Project "Untold Stories from Ukraine": Sharing the Stories of Resilient Ukrainians with the World

In 2024, the team of the media hub "Tvoe Misto" (Lviv-Kyiv) launched the English-language project Untold Stories from Ukraine to strengthen support for Ukraine among the international audience, particularly in the West. The project tells the real stories of Ukrainians who remained unyielding during the war with Russia: soldiers, volunteers, businesspeople, IT professionals, and many others.

The Beginning of the Project:
The project began with participation in the International Journalism Festival 2024 in Italy, where the Untold Stories from Ukraine newspaper was presented. It received positive feedback from the media community and was distributed among 700-800 forum participants.

Next Steps:
The newspaper was distributed at international events such as the Kyiv International Economic Forum and Europe’s Strategic Choices 2024 conference in Berlin and Munich Security Conference. Requests for copies have been coming from Ukrainians abroad.

The Goal of the Project:
Supporting Ukraine by telling the real stories of real people. As CEO of "Tvoe Misto" Taras Yatsenko emphasized: "We must win together, otherwise Western democracies will collapse."
The project Untold Stories from Ukraine is implemented with the support of The Robert Bosch Stiftung (Germany).

What should the city of the future look like? From 28 to 30 June, Lviv hosted an Urban Forum attended by our good friend, French architect Martin Duplantier. He shared with us the main trends in the future of Lviv and the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities after the war. Martin also shared his reconstruction experience in France and the mistakes that should not be repeated.

How can Ukrainian cities be developed during and after the war? Why is it crucial to focus on local identity? How to handle the legacy of the Soviet Union? What role will Lviv play in the country’s reconstruction, and how should the city be developed? These questions, as well as the importance of ...

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared his vision of victory over Russia. The story of this military man who defeated "the second world army" inspires many, and that is why Valeriy Zaluzhnyi is ready to fight until victory is certain. The only thing the Ukrainian commander asks for is ammunition, weapons, and equipment. With all of this, he is ready to defend and take back the occupied lands.

Gen. Valery Zaluzhny said in a rare interview that he has used Ukrainian-made weapons to strike inside Russia as he seeks to work around conditions on weapons supplied by the West.

Today, the NATO Summit in Vilnius has come to an end. We are sincerely grateful to our Allies and NATO countries for their support. The main message that Volodymyr Zelenskyy received from NATO leaders is that Ukraine will join the Alliance not "if" but "when." The final date remains unknown, of course. But Ukrainians have received a glimmer of hope that we are welcome in NATO.

President Zelensky wants assurances Ukraine will join Nato after the war, but members chose strategic caution.

The United States recently announced the transfer to Ukraine of cluster bombs, which are partially forbidden to use in many countries. However, Russia has ignored its threat to inflict heavy casualties on both the Ukrainian military and civilians. Therefore, Ukraine needs Western precision-guided munitions that will be effectively used against the occupiers and will not harm the civilian population.

Cluster bombs are banned by more than 100 countries - so the move will likely draw intense criticism.

Many people had quite high expectations of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, but the situation on the front line remains focused on localized clashes. Is this a tactic of the Ukrainian Armed Forces or is there another reason for postponing a full-scale counteroffensive? Our colleagues have collected all available data and summarized what else is needed to win.

The Russian-Ukrainian war has been going on for almost 10 years, and it is not just about annexation and occupation. The Russians use different weapons that harm Ukraine. Among these weapons are propaganda and fakes, because the occupier's hybrid army operates far beyond the borders of Russia and Ukraine.

False and misleading claims about the war in Ukraine are being widely shared.

Recently, a Russian missile also killed Victoria Amelina, a Ukrainian poet. She clearly understood the dangers of Russian spoilage, which breaks in and muddies your thoughts and personality.

She was unable to return to Ukraine when the full-scale war broke out and was in a refugee camp. However, she constantly claimed to be at home - she was a little Ukraine in Europe.

The long read: Before she was killed by a Russian missile strike, the acclaimed novelist and war crimes researcher wrote about growing up in Moscow’s shadow, and how she came to understand what being Ukrainian really meant

The occupier knows no pity! Last night, the terrorist state attacked Lviv and the region with 10 missiles. One of the targets was a residential building where Ukrainians were peacefully sleeping at that moment. Five people were killed immediately, and a 17-year-old girl was injured.

Homes destroyed, cars shattered, broken windows in all neighboring buildings, glass everywhere. But the most important thing here is the people. Most of them managed to escape, but as of now, we know of four fatalities and 40 injured. There may still be some trapped under the rubble. Now, everything...
