Google Maps is rolling out several new features for iOS and Android that promise to make it even more useful over the Holiday season. The Holidays can be a hectic time that often requires a lot of planning to ensure everyone has the merriest time possible. While there are big decisions to be made, such as choosing gifts and deciding what meals to prepare, typically there are also considerations around festive activities, such as attending lighting ceremonies or visiting family.

Though Google Maps is fundamentally a mapping service, Google has added many additional features over the years. From nearby restaurant listings and city guides, to public transit information and the ability to track wildfires, Google has found many ways to expand the app’s functionality. Indeed, it's now entirely as reasonable to open Google Maps to check the air quality of a city or view the menu of a local coffee shop as it is to plan a road trip or find a gas station.

Samsung is now rolling out a new update to its older Galaxy Watch models that brings even more health and fitness features as well as some new watch faces. These features were first released for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, with Samsung now looking to bring a similar level of functionality and support to some of its older smartwatches.

While the launch of a new model of a device is exciting and tempting for consumers, not everyone will upgrade to the newest version. Despite this, it is not unusual for manufacturers to abandon older devices following the release of newer ones. Of course, there are some brands that are committed to keeping their older devices supported for as long as possible. In some cases, this results in additional features being ported over from newer models to older ones via a software update.

Tesla has started installing Starlink satellite internet dishes at some of its charging stations, possibly in a bid to offer Wi-Fi connectivity to EV owners so that they can pass the time streaming content as they wait for their car to juice up. For a while now, Tesla owners have been asking for a reliable internet connectivity infrastructure at these charging locations so that they can install updates or keep themselves busy with web browsing or games while the car batteries recharge.

To recall, Tesla owners can take advantage of the in-car infotainment system to stream content from services like Netflix. However, the ability to do so via cellular network is only available to folks who pay a monthly fee for Premium Connectivity that costs $9.99. So having a Starlink receiver to provide Wi-Fi coverage at charging stations would be great for Tesla owners without an active subscription. Talking about its internet ambitions, though, the company has been expanding the footprint of its Starlink internet service after taking it out of the beta stage. And just last week, the company unveiled a new rectangular receiver dish that is lighter and smaller than the older iteration with a round profile.
