Zawadi Services Ordered to Park Buses Over Loan Dispute
Zawadi Services, a bus company operating in the West Nile region, has reportedly been ordered by Stanbic Bank to park its buses over an outstanding loan.
The company secured the loan in 2019 with a five-year repayment period. However, Zawadi Services says the COVID-19 pandemic severely affected its operations, forcing the company to remain inactive for about 12 months.
According to the company, interest continued to accumulate during and after the disruption, significantly increasing the amount owed and making repayment more difficult.
The directive has reportedly affected the companyβs operations and employees, raising concerns about the future of transport services in West Nile.
Zawadi Services is calling for dialogue with Stanbic Bank to find a workable solution, while considering the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company says it remains committed to clearing its debt but is seeking consideration for the challenges it faced during the prolonged interruption of business.
