📍 Pakwach District – 8th National Regional Youth Parliament (West Nile Region)
🗓️ Held on Friday, 11th July 2025

The 8th National Regional Youth Parliament (West Nile Region) took place yesterday in Pakwach District, bringing together young leaders from across the region for an engaging and impactful session. The annual event is powered by Faraja Africa Foundation in partnership with the European Union.

This initiative serves as a capacity-building platform designed to give youth the opportunity to experience the dynamics of governance and leadership across Africa. The young delegates deliberated on key regional issues, including:
1️⃣ Climate Change
2️⃣ The Economic Status of the Region
3️⃣ Youth Inclusivity in Government Programs

Among the participants was Gabriel Amayo, who traveled to the event with the ambition to contest for the position of Speaker of the Youth Parliament. After presenting his bid, he was successfully nominated and campaigned alongside two other candidates. Although he did not win the election, he described the experience as insightful and worthwhile, saying, "It wasn’t my time yet, but the journey itself was valuable."

Following the election, Gabriel was appointed to serve as the Clerk to the Youth Parliament, a role he accepted and executed with diligence. He later noted that the position allowed him to gain deeper insight into the parliamentary process and the importance of youth engagement in governance.

The event continues to serve as a stepping stone for young leaders to build confidence, network, and take meaningful steps toward transforming their communities.
