Press Statement about Releases of Staff of Warrap State Revenue Authority.

On behalf of the government of Warrap State and my own behalf, I am pleased to announce to the public that the 19 staff of the Warrap State Revenue Authority - among the members of security organs who were arrested following a misunderstanding between the Government of Warrap State and division11 commands, have been released.
Division 5 commanders in Western Bahr El Ghazal state, capital Wau released the 19 staff to the government of Warrap State on Monday, and Warrap State Minister of Cabinet Affairs Hon. Acuil Malai Aliap received them on behalf of H.E Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, the governor of Warrap State
The cited personnel were arrested at various checkpoints in the state by Division 11 command on 13"h of June 2025. The just released staff were directed by the government of Warrap State to carry out security checks at the bridges notably in Makuei-Karsit Tonj Town and Tharkueng Bridges. However, the Division 11 command was not informed before the directive and this resulted in a misunderstanding, which led to the arrest.
The government of Warrap State acknowledged the inconveniences caused by this misunderstanding and extended appreciation firstly to the National Minister of Defense, Chief of Defense Force, H.E Governor of Warrap State and finally to the Commands of Division 11 and 5 for accepting our apologies, and subsequently, released the personnel in question.
As the government of Warrap state, We would like to clarify to the public that what has happened was unfortunate and we would like to sincerely assure all the concerned authorities that such an occurrence would be avoided in the future.

US President Donald Trump on Sunday urged Iran and Israel to “make a deal” and bring their deadly exchange of strikes to an end.

“Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal,” Trump said on his Truth Social media platform, adding that there are “many calls and meetings now taking place” on the issue and that peace could be achieved “soon” between the longtime adversaries. “We will have PEACE, soon”, he wrote.

More than 2,000 protests were scheduled across all 50 states Saturday through the No Kings movement, which organizers say seeks to reject "authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarization of our democracy."

The mobilization is a direct response to a military parade rolling through Washington, DC, on Saturday that celebrates the 250th anniversary of the US Army. It also coincides with President Donald Trump's 79th birthday.

Saturday's rallies have been amplified by a week of protests against ICE raids in Los Angeles and other major cities. Following the Hands Off! and 50501 protests this spring, Saturday's demonstrations aren't the first nationwide rejection of Trump's policies. But organizers expect them to be the largest, with millions of Americans expected to take part.

Nigeria calls for calm amid Iran-Israel tensions

The Federal Government has condemned Israel’s recent strike on Iran, describing it as a move that has dangerously escalated tensions between the two nations.

In a statement issued Saturday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the FG expressed deep concern over the intensifying hostilities, which have involved sustained missile and aerial attacks exchanged between Iran and Israel.

The FG called for an immediate end to the violence and urged both countries to show maximum restraint.

According to the statement, continued retaliation risks not only civilian lives but also threatens to destabilise the wider Middle East, with serious consequences for international peace and economic stability

AN updated land cover map of South Sudan, released on Thursday, shows that 26% of the country is covered by open natural vegetation, while grasslands make up 37% of the land area. Officials say the data will help guide investors in tapping into agricultural and conservation opportunities.

Speaking at the launch of the land cover mapping, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, John Ongote Kanisio, said the new map is a vital tool for strengthening South Sudan’s disaster preparedness and development planning.

“This comprehensive map is far more than just beautiful artwork or technical description; it is a vital tool for our nation’s future,” he said. “It reveals the very living skin of our land, our precious forests, vital wetlands, productive farmlands, expansive grasslands and growing settlements. These atlases equip us to predict floods and droughts, guide responsible investment, and support sustainable development.”

The mapping exercise was led by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with funding from the EU, USAID, UKAID, and in partnership with the Swiss Cooperation Agency.

𝐉𝐮𝐛𝐚, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has sworn in Ambassador Bol Wek Agoth as the new Governor of Warrap State in a renewed push for peace and stability in the restive region.

President Kiir urged the people of Tonj and the wider Warrap community to welcome the new governor with open hearts and minds, and to work together with him in restoring peace.

Governor Bol Wek Agoth pledged to prioritize peacebuilding, law enforcement, and the restoration of effective local governance. He also called on Warrap natives living in Juba to become ambassadors of peace for their conflict-ridden state.

The President’s move marks the latest step in his administration’s ongoing efforts to forge new paths to peace in Warrap, a region that continues to grapple with the devastating impact of unchecked violence and lawlessness.
