To the National Unity Platform Central Executive Committee and Elections Management Committee,
Subject: Complaint Regarding Njeru Municipality Mayorship Flag Bearer Selection
Dear Esteemed Members,
I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the selection process for the NUP flag bearer in the Njeru Municipality Mayorship race. The individual who was awarded the flag is currently under suspension for misbehavior, which raises serious questions about the vetting process and the party's commitment to upholding its values.
Furthermore, this individual has a history of publicly abusing top NUP leaders, including Hon. Nabakunzi Faridah Nabatanzi, which demonstrates a lack of respect for party leadership and undermines party unity. Additionally, their behavior towards fellow opposition members in Njeru has been marked by conflict and aggression, with undisciplined foot soldiers engaging in violence, abuse, and intimidation.
As a loyal NUP member, I am confused and concerned about how these issues were overlooked during the vetting process. I respectfully request that the Elections Management Committee and the Central Executive Committee investigate this matter and provide clarity on the following:
1. How did a suspended member secure the party flag?
2. What criteria were used to vet candidates, and how were their past behaviors and actions evaluated?
3. What measures will be taken to address the concerns raised by NUP members in Njeru Municipality?
I urge the party leadership to take immediate action to address these concerns and ensure that the party's values and principles are upheld. I look forward to a prompt response and resolution.
