There is a culture in Ugandan employers to give a negative recommendation to their employees when they want to leave for something better.
It's a sign of backwardness and selfishness.
It should not matter if someone has worked for you for a few days and you have trained them or not. If they want to leave, just let them move and recommend them well, unless they have stolen or destroyed your property.
No one was born on a job. Everyone started somewhere at a certain point. And was recommended by someone to either get the job they have or another job. Avoid keeping disgruntled employees at your company because they are good.
If you have such character of giving someone a negative review, then you are what we call backward.
