Good morning Dr. Gulere.

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Reflecting upon my time in your class, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your exceptional teaching methods and the profound impact they had on me.

From the very first day, I was captivated by your unique approach to education. Your classes were always lively, filled with passion and a genuine love for the subject matter. I eagerly looked forward to each session, as I knew I would be challenged to push the boundaries of my abilities and explore new horizons in writing.

One particular aspect of your teaching that stands out in my memory is when you encouraged us to translate short stories from the African story books website into our local languages. This exercise not only showcased the richness of our diverse cultures but also brought forth a deep appreciation for the power of words. It was through these translations that I discovered the beauty and nuances of storytelling, and it fostered a desire within me to pursue writing as a means of self-expression.

Now, years later, I am overjoyed to share with you that my passion for writing has provided me with incredible opportunities. With your guidance and inspiration, I have authored and published four books which have received recognition and praise from readers around the world. Éditions Muse in France has honored me by publishing my works – an autobiographical novel entitled "Le garçon de Sebeiland" and three collections of poetry entitled "Le soupir des tropiques," "Au-delà de nous," and "Sur les rives du Nil."

But success aside, the true essence of my journey lies in the invaluable lessons I learned from you. Your passion for teaching ignited a fire within me, allowing me to grow both as a writer and an individual. Through your encouragement, I gained the confidence to pursue my dreams relentlessly and to nurture my creativity.

To my fellow classmates, I would like to impart a message of perseverance and a reminder to always embrace the challenges that come our way. Our time in your class was not measured solely by grades or accomplishments, but by the growth and self-discovery we experienced.

To the teachers who may read this story, I urge you to be the catalysts of change, fueling the aspirations of your students and fostering an environment conducive to personal growth. Your impact extends far beyond the classroom walls, shaping the lives of future generations.

To the media, I encourage you to embrace and celebrate the diversity of voices that exist within our society. It is through these different perspectives that we can create a more harmonious, understanding world.

And finally, to all students, I want to emphasize the power of self-belief and dedicating oneself to a pursuit that sets your soul on fire. Embrace your passions, follow your dreams, and never let anyone tell you that you cannot achieve greatness. Remember, it's not about the destination, but rather the journey itself that holds the true beauty of life.

Once again, I express my deepest gratitude for your guidance and inspiration. Your teaching methods have left an indelible mark on my life, and I will forever carry the lessons you imparted with me as I continue to explore the realms of literature.

With heartfelt thanks,

Nathan

Remember to do Good

God has his ways. Yesterday, Saturday 9 January 2021, I left Kampala for the farm in Nsinze at 5 am. But first, I had to pick up 200 hass avocado seedlings for the Diocese of Gulu from Kasubi to Jinja where the other 1800 are being raised. The progress is good although the steps for nursery care needed improvement. At Nsinze, I found the seedlings not well looked after. I was taken aback when I saw what I saw. At first, I said that I would bring back with me the seedlings that had not been planted. I asked for a box and packed them at about midday. Then a strange energy filled my feeble body and told me to ask for a hoe and start the planting. By 3pm I had planted 170 papaya and organised over 5000 seedlings in the nursery bed. Before long, I had finished spraying and encouraging my helpers to complete the work of grafting.

The purpose of my going was to check on the team of grafters and to repair the underground water tank that was draining away the water into the ground. With the grafters, they had left already after realizing that over half of the seedlings where either overgrown or too young. For that, I contacted the supplier of the seedlings and he accepted to replace the overgrown while the grafters also agreed to return and complete their work when the seedlings are ready. This is the work of God.

Just as I was arriving the farm, the 30000L tanker was making its way to the reservoir to replenish the lost gem. So we could not work on the tank. However, we were able to water the plants and observe the mistake that needed to be corrected. That is, introducing wire mesh in concentrated plaster motor. We therefore hope to return on site on Monday 11 January 2021.

I had an opportunity to very briefly and in constraint greet Mzee Erizafaani Pisoni Baamugha at his home. He had visitors coming to see him so I stayed outside without sitting down. I delivered some little items and left with his blessing. Deaconess Grace called just as I was knocking at the door. In that way, the miracle of marriage was completed. Wherever one is the other is also in body, mind and spirit. I later saw my sister Ruth on her usual journeys then rushed away but not without the mubisi banana juice by a baisewaguma group at the roadside. It costs 2000/ every two litres. It's sweetness reminded me of the sweetness of God when he allowed me to do all that I have just said.

The drive from Nsinze to Kampala took 4 hours and it was a miracle that with not much money for fuel and other needs, we managed to sail through with barely 200,000/. My accelerator leg was very painful and I had to stop over in the dead night to relax along the way. When I got home, life came ripe as I had a fresh bath and half of a jackfruit we got from my Class Cookie, Dr Moses Muyaka the other day. Although I had brought another three or four jackfruits, I didn't expect that special fruit to be there waiting for me! That made my supper and I slept in peace after midnight.

Again, by the Grace of God, 5 am. I got up. Yesterday I had planned to stay in Busoga for prayers. When I decided to get back home, I had thoughts of staying home to look after my beloved wife Grace. She was not feeling so well because of the air cooler that we used in the car the previous two days. She is allergic to cold. Very sorry about that. Yet, at 5am, it was clear that I had to go to church. I was feeling strong especially because my brother Bishop Sylvester had told me he would celebrate his healing from covid-19. I had to be there as a brother in need.

The celebration was heartful and it ended with Hon Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert joining in the prayers. "What is this, Lord, that you have done to me?" I asked as I chanted the prayers. I was looking at the Bishop as if I were looking at the icon of Christ. Hon Kyagulanyi was like the icon of a long gone personality I had not known. We were there in the presence of God to be judged.

Yes. Fr. Emmanuel Ssekyewa and Fr Dimitris Sseruganda had succumbed to covid-19 like many others. Where they lay in sleep is where I often stand as Deacon to intone the prayers to God. This same place is where the mysteries of baptism, marriage and eucharist are served or celebrated. This is also where the journey to ordination and confession begins. In the middle of the centre of the high church. God's place of honour.

God bless you for reading this. Richard Naniima Nangulu has just been with me as I prepared to bring my ipsum car for servicing repair. It was not performing well but as I said, God does whatever He chooses and our duty is to OBEY.

Today, I have planted 150 papaya along the Jordan Lane in Namugongo. I have received two sugar canes from the caretaker, Mr Mugisha and counselled Gideon, a senior two student. He found me working and he greeted me. We in Africa greet deeply from the heart. That is how I got to know the peril he is undergoing under the one year covid-19 lockdown of schools. I encouraged home to follow my example of planting medium term crops in the estate.

As part of the orange potato vines multiplication drive of MAISOY in conjunction with the Uganda Orthodox Church Schools, we now have mature vines enough to cover ten acres. We have received orders from members of the Uganda Orthodox Mothers' Union in Mityana-Mubende Deanery. Collection points are Gulere Foundation Resources Center in Kyamula and DAWAN in Buloba. Others may also get the vines from the center at Namayumba, 28 Miles on Hoima road. These orange potatoes are very good for children and people with terminal illnesses.
