In a powerful address to the public in Bukhayo West Ward, Matayos Constituency, Hon. Catherine Omanyo unequivocally rejected the Finance Bill 2024.

During the event, where she distributed Affirmative Action grants worth 1.3 million KES to 13 groups, Omanyo launched a scathing critique of the government's proposed tax hikes on essential goods such as maize flour, cooking oil, and fuel.

Omanyo lambasted the government's disregard for the struggles of ordinary Kenyans, highlighting how these draconian measures will disproportionately burden low-income families and exacerbate the already escalating cost of living. She argued that the proposed tax increases are not just an economic misstep but a moral failure that will deepen inequality and undermine the livelihoods of the most vulnerable.

In her speech, Omanyo called for a more equitable fiscal policy that prioritizes the needs of the people over the interests of the elite. She insisted that any responsible government must protect its citizens, particularly in times of economic hardship, and champion policies that promote sustainable growth and social justice.

Omanyo's impassioned plea underscored the urgency of rethinking the current approach to economic policy, urging leaders to listen to the voices of those they serve and act in the interests of the already overburdened communities.
