*Today, Monday 26th January 2026, Uganda proudly marks 40 years since the National Resistance Army (NRA) liberated our country.*
On this historic day in 1986, the NRA, the military wing of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) under the visionary leadership of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, seized power after a five-year people’s protracted struggle. That decisive victory rescued Uganda from the brink, restored stability & sovereignty, and rekindled hope for a nation that had endured years of turmoil.
"Liberation was not merely a change of government; it was the rebirth of a nation." It laid a firm foundation for lasting peace, national unity and far-reaching socio-economic transformation. *Over the last four decades, the NRM government has consolidated peace across the country, professionalized the security forces, rebuilt state institutions, expanded infrastructure, modernized agriculture, invested in education and health, advanced ICT and innovation, empowered youth and women, and positioned Uganda as a regional anchor of stability and economic resilience.*
As patriots and beneficiaries of this hard-won freedom, we MUST celebrate & safeguard these historic gains. At the same time, we renew our collective commitment to “THE NEXT LEAP” a bold agenda aimed at deeper transformation, inclusive development, industrialization, value addition and shared prosperity for all Ugandans.
`It is from this proud and unbreakable foundation that I call upon all peace-loving Ugandans to turn up in big numbers at Kololo Independence Grounds as we commemorate this great Liberation Day.` Let us celebrate our journey, honor our heroes, and reaffirm our resolve to move Uganda forward—stronger, united, and unstoppable!
The struggle was worth it. The gains are real. The future is brighter.
*FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY* 🇺🇬🇺🇬
