UPDATE | Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa has commended communities for their determination to combat corruption and the misuse of public resources.

Addressing an anti-corruption campaign nationwide, initiated by Minister of Local Government Balaam Barugahara in Mitooma, Tayebwa emphasized that the fight against corruption necessitates collective vigilance and active citizen participation.

He also praised Barugahara for spearheading efforts in the fight against corruption and for directly engaging the public on issues of accountability.

S. AFRICA | Multiple groups of anti-xenophobia demonstrators have assembled in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban to counter what they perceive as xenophobia, afrophobia, violence, exploitation, and forced deportations targeting African migrants in South Africa.

Under the banner of Operation Ubuntu, the protesters are urging all citizens of the African continent to rise up and unite against all forms of injustice faced by poor and marginalized people on the continent, including xenophobia, afrophobia, inadequate housing, exploitation of Africa's natural resources, gender-based violence, and lack of accountability by African governments.

UPDATE | Parliament has approved the deployment of a UPDF contingent to Gaza as part of an international stabilization force.

UPDF Representative Maj. Gen. Henry Masiko has described the mission as a source of national pride, noting that Ugandan troops will provide protection to civilians and support peace efforts.

Manjiya County MP John Nambeshe has expressed support for the deployment, while also advocating for an assessment of Uganda's previous peacekeeping missions prior to the deployment.

Reports suggest that SC Villa captain David Owori was assaulted by thugs wielding pavers on Tuesday night, mere meters from his residence in Makindye.

He was discovered unconscious by a neighbor, who subsequently informed his wife and employers, and managed to get him to Case Hospital, where he was placed in the ICU but unfortunately failed to recover.

UPDATE: The Minister for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara, has ordered the arrest and suspension of Mbarara City Clerk Justine Barekye, her deputy Simon Ejua, and Procurement Officer Dina Mwije, citing allegations of financial loss to the government and mismanagement of public funds.

The trio has been referred to the police for questioning and has been instructed to vacate their offices pending the completion of the investigation.

| Justice Alex Mackay Ajiji ruled on Monday that Yusuf Lubega, Mahad Kisalita, Ismail Bukenya, Abubaker Kyewokya, Hassan Wasswa, Abbas Musa Buwembo, Hussein Kato Miiro, Hajjara Nakandi, and Muzamir Ssali were guilty of kidnapping Magara with the intention of procuring a $1.5 million ransom, followed by her murder after holding her captive for nearly three weeks.

The nine individuals had been jointly charged with kidnapping with intent to procure a ransom and murder. According to the prosecution, they abducted Magara from Lungujja, Kampala, on February 7, 2018, and subsequently killed her between February 25 and 27, 2018, at Konge.
