SAD : Former Minister Hon Mary Busingye Karoro Okurut has died today evening at Nakasero Hospital.

Karoro a former University Don, press Secretary to the president, woman Mp Bushenyi Bushenyi District and Cabinet minister serving in different portfolios was born in 1954 and has died at the age of 71.

May her Soul Rest in peace.

Parental Care Nursery and primary school Bushenyi has today 7th.May. 2025 won the Teacher's Dabate Network National Championship Junior Category 2025.

Parental Care tussled out Uganda martyrs primary school on finals.

Isaiah Ashaba emerged as the best debator.

Relatedly, Ntare School has also won the senior category after defeating Kigezi High school.

This Championship started on Sunday and has been on going at Ntare School main hall.

The CEO Mr Batuura Eric has said this was the first of it's kind at national level and it attracted 38 participating Schools.

It will be held annually, he added.

Parental Care Nursery and Primary school Bushenyi is of recent known for winning Dabate Competitions at world level. It won African debating championship and missed participating in world debate Competitions due to funds.

UPF Greater Bushenyi Bids Farewell to Veteran PRO SSP Martial Tumusiime

The Uganda Police Force (UPF) Greater Bushenyi region bid a fond farewell to its former Public Relations Officer (PRO), SSP Martial Tumusiime, as he retired from active service on May 3, 2025. Tumusiime served the UPF for an impressive 36 years, with 13 of those years spent as PRO for the Greater Bushenyi region.

During the handover ceremony, Tumusiime expressed gratitude to the police force and the community for their support throughout his career. He advised his colleagues to avoid corruption, be time managers, and love the force. "This is the right time to retire and go home because I served the forces to my rib," he said.

ASP Tayebwa Apollo has taken over as the acting PRO, pending the appointment of a new spokesperson by the Inspector General of Police (IGP). Tayebwa expressed his readiness to work with all departments and continue the good work of his predecessor.

RPC Greater Bushenyi, SSP Godfrey Akiriya witnessed the handover and officially appointed ASP Tayebwa Apollo to resume office. "With the power entrusted to me, I appoint Mr. Tayebwa Apollo to resume the office as I await the IGP's appointment of a new PRO," SSP Akirirya said.

DPC Bushenyi District, ASP Okum Agrey, praised SSP Tumusiime for his exemplary service, describing him as a good time manager. "We will miss your services, Afande," ASP Agrey said.

Tumusiime thanked the media for their collaboration during his tenure and urged them to continue working smoothly with the new officer.

The Greater Bushenyi region wishes SSP Martial Tumusiime a happy retirement, and ASP Tayebwa Apollo all the best in his new role.

Deputy Rdc Sheema District Officiating at the inception meeting for real father's program

He thanked for putting its focus on boy child who has been neglected by the society at an expense of empowering girl child.

Sam said that it's a good initiative because it's aimed at reducing irresponsible fathers in our Communities.

Real fathers program is a non evidence based Community - Led mentoring intervation aimed at reducing intimate partner violence and violence against children.
It's being implemented in six districts of Bushenyi, Sheema, mitooma, Buhweju, Rwampara and Ntungamo.
Wacsof ED Mr Kakonge Apollo Lee says this phased project will help to reduce on gender based violence in our communities which is common in young families.
