Just In: The NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting at State House Entebbe has selected the party’s preferred candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament ahead of Monday’s first sitting of the 12th Parliament.

*BUSHENYI DISTRICT NEW BOSS SWORN IN, VOWS TO CRACK DOWN ON THE CORRUPT* .

*21/5/2026* : Twebaze Prosper, the newly elected chairman Lc V Bushenyi District was sworn in on 19th May 2026 amidst jubilation and celebrations from voters as they thanked God for the New Bushenyi they are about to experience.

Prosper and the District council took their oath on 19th May 2026 before Barigye Said, the Chief Magistrate Bushenyi Court circuit at Bushenyi Multipurpose Hall.

On the same Occasion, the District Council Elected Hon Banyanga Silagi Ishaka Division Councillor as the Council Speaker and Arinaitwe Martin, Male youth Councillor as the Deputy Speaker. Relatedly, Prosper Nominated Hon Edward Mpairwe Mpabwa as the Vice chairman, Tumwijukye Didas as Secretary for Finance and Administration, Namusoke Saudah as secretary for production, Works and technical services and Kyomuhendo Sylivia as the
Secretary for Social Services.

While giving his maiden speech, propser argued his ministers and the entire council to desist from corruption tendencies and the related. "People voted me on good will, I will serve the whole heartedly without any terms and conditions" he added . He went ahead to caution those that have been acting as corruption blockers and enablers to forget abour this during his tenure.

Twebaze prosper, who was a political talk show host on one of the local radio stations in Bushenyi won Jaffari Bassajabalaba with 66,101 votes (86.2%) against 10,597 votes (13.8%).

Following the primary upset, the incumbent formally stepped aside in favor of Twebaze's candidacy, solidifying his path to leadership.

Prosper officially took over office on 19/5/2026 and promised a corruption free and Bushenyi for all leadership.

BREAKING NEWS : BANYANGA SILAGI WINS BUSHENYI DISTRICT SPEAKERSHIP BY ONE VOTE

Bushenyi District Council has just voted Hon Banyanga Silagi as the District Speaker for 2026-2031.

The speakership contest had Edward Mpabwa the councillor representing kyamuhunga Town Council who got 19 votes and Banyanga Silagi got 20

Silagi takes over from Mucunguzi Douglas who has been the speaker for last term.

All is set as Bushenyi District Council is expected to approve Proposed Budget for financial year 2026/27

The District council is also expected to approve the proposed Dec Chairperson Mr Martin Mugabe after the one proposed earlier was rejected by the public service commission over corruption related Cases.

This will the last District Council for the political term 2026-2031.

*PARENTAL CARE NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL BUSHENYI CROWN TDA DEBATE CHAMPIONS 2026.*

Today 6th May 2026, parental care nursery and primary school Bushenyi has won this year's Teacher's Debate Network debate Championship (Junior Category) which has been taking place at St Peter's SS Nalya in Kampala, Uganda. Parental tussled out pearl Junior school Bushenyi on finals.

Relatedly, Martyr's SS Namugongo won Kigezi High in Senior category

This debate Championship attracted 42 primary schools and 28 schools from across the country.

Parental will join other schools from East African Countries for the TDA East African Debate Championship 2026 in September this year.

HAPPENING NOW : Teacher's Debate Network debate Championship 2026 finale is on going at St Peter's SS Nalya (SPENA) as Parental care nursery and primary school Bushenyi takes on Pearl Junior school Bushenyi.

These two reached final stage after raising through debating stages which had 42 primary schools from across Uganda participating.

Relatedly, 28 eight senior schools are participated in the senior debate category and apparently, Holy Cross Secondary school, Uganda martyrs ss Namugongo, Kyeizooba Girls School and Kigezi High school have qualified for Semi finals.

It's from these that the two schools to do finals will be selected.

Teachers Debate Network championship will later on today crown the champions in junior and senior debate, poetry, news anchoring and public speaking categories

Katungu primary school Church service is on going at lshaka Urban Archdeaconary church in katungu Ishaka, Bushenyi District.

It's presided over by Ven Rev Kenneth Mujinya and the guest preacher is Dr Crisent Tumuhaise Karukubiro, the Executive Director Nkozi Hospital and an old boy of the school.

This service is aimed at praying for the construction projects that have been initiated by the church and old boys of the school which will start soon.

These projects are aimed at giving the school a new face.

KIBINGO GIRLS, KASHOZI BOARDING PRIMARY SCHOOLS WIN DOWA MUSIC COMPETITIONS 2026.

Kibingo girls and Kashozi Boarding schools emerged Winners at the Diocese of West Ankole Primary and secondary Schools Music Competitions 2026 which took place at Bweranyangi girls secondary school and Bishop McAllister College Kyogyera recently.

This competition attracted 14 primary and 9 secondary schools from the five Music Zones in the Diocese.

They participated in various categories like Piano playing, sight singing, voluntary composition, Bible skits etal which gave judges a position to mark out the best.

On thursday 22nd April 2026, Kashozi Boarding Primary school emerged as the overall Winner in primary schools competition with 431 marks followed Kyabandara primary school in the second position with 420.

On friday 23rd April 2026, while at Bweranyangi girls secondary school Bushenyi, Kibingo girls emerged the winner out of the 9 schools, followed by the host Bweranyangi girls secondary school in the second position.

Relatedly, Bishop Maclister College Kyogyera and Bishop McAllister Anglican seminary schools won piano playing competition both at primary and school level. These took place on 22nd April 2026 at Kyogyera Diocesan School of music.

According to the Diocesan Music Director Mubangizi Edson, this initiative which started last year and will be an annual event. He encouraged all schools to interest themselves in music as a co - curricular activity to enable learners explore their talents in this field. He further says that this is also aimed at reviving the original Anglican Church music which had gotten swept away by other music compositions that have been adopted by church Choirs.

Rt Rev Johnson Twinomujuni thanked the participants for the courage and charisma they exhibited from zero level to the Diocesan level. He argued schools to have learners interest themselves more in learning music instruments like piano and others. It's these instruments that gives music direction. He ended by calling upon all schools in the Diocese to consider being active in this competition next year.
