Egypt to Host New Round of Indirect Israel-Hamas Negotiations

On October 6, the parties plan to discuss settlement based on the latest plan proposed by Donald Trump.

The Hamas delegation stated that it had already arrived on the scene and denied previous reports that it was willing to disarm under international supervision, in accordance with the US president's peace plan.

The issue of Hamas disarmament is a "Palestinian issue that will be resolved within a Palestinian framework," Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati said, according to the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.

Netanyahu's office also confirmed that the negotiations will take place. According to the prime minister's office, the Israeli delegation is expected to travel to Sharm el-Sheikh on the day of the meeting.

Uganda Agrees to Accept Certain Asylum Seekers from the US

Uganda has entered into an agreement with the United States to accept nationals from third countries who are denied asylum in the US but are unwilling to return to their countries of origin, the Ugandan Foreign Ministry reported.

The temporary agreement excludes individuals with criminal records and unaccompanied minors, the ministry's permanent secretary, Vincent Bagiire Waiswa, noted.

Uganda would prefer to receive African nationals under the deal, and both parties are currently working out the detailed modalities for implementation, he added.

Uganda Denies Accepting US Deportees, Refutes Media Report

"We do not have the facilities and infrastructure to accommodate such illegal immigrants in Uganda," Okello Oryem, state minister for foreign affairs, told Western media.

The denial follows a media report, citing US government documents, that the Trump administration reached deportation deals with Uganda as part of a larger effort to deport millions of undocumented immigrants.

The agreements would reportedly reroute asylum seekers to "third countries," including South Sudan and Eswatini, if the US deemed the country capable of fairly hearing their claims, a provision under US immigration law.

Uganda to Borrow $400M for Infrastructure & Agriculture Development: Finance Ministry

The government plans to use this borrowing to fund infrastructure projects that will spur economic growth, State Minister for Finance Henry Musasizi said.

The funding sources include:

🔵African Development Bank ($253 million),
🔵UN's International Fund for Agricultural Development,
🔵Islamic Development Bank,
🔵UniCredit Bank Austria.

Musasizi did not provide a specific timeline for when the loans would be finalized.
