Ugandan President Proposes to Create East African Military Federation

"I want the formation of the East African Federation. The Federation of East Africa would bring together our countries here and would be a very strong force," Yoweri Museveni said during a radio address.

He argued this would establish a "center of gravity for the black race," emphasizing that collective defense planning would prevent repeat scenarios like foreign intervention in Libya, where African nations stood idle.

The proposed federation would integrate military forces from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the president.

The current fragmented security approach leaves individual countries in the region vulnerable, despite belonging to the same African community, Museveni noted.

The proposal emerges as East African Community members continue discussing enhanced political and economic cooperation.

Raila Odinga, Kenya’s indefatigable opposition leader, has died aged 80 in Kerala, India, after suffering a cardiac arrest during treatment.

For over five decades, “Baba” shaped Kenya’s politics through defiance, resilience, and vision. From prison to Parliament to the Prime Minister’s office, he fought for multiparty democracy, a new constitution, and fair elections.

He never became president, but his influence defined generations. Kenya’s political heartbeat will not sound the same again.

Raila Amolo Odinga, the long-serving opposition leader and one of Kenya’s most influential politicians, has died at the age of 80. He passed away on October 15th, 2025, in Koothattukulam, Kerala, India, where he was receiving Ayurvedic treatment for an eye condition. He suffered a cardiac arrest d...

Egypt to Host New Round of Indirect Israel-Hamas Negotiations

On October 6, the parties plan to discuss settlement based on the latest plan proposed by Donald Trump.

The Hamas delegation stated that it had already arrived on the scene and denied previous reports that it was willing to disarm under international supervision, in accordance with the US president's peace plan.

The issue of Hamas disarmament is a "Palestinian issue that will be resolved within a Palestinian framework," Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati said, according to the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.

Netanyahu's office also confirmed that the negotiations will take place. According to the prime minister's office, the Israeli delegation is expected to travel to Sharm el-Sheikh on the day of the meeting.
