Accessing your money in the bank above the set limits will require prior approval from the Bank of Uganda (BoU).

The Bank of Uganda has reportedly introduced a directive set to take effect in 2027, under which individuals will not be allowed to withdraw more than UGX 50 million per day or UGX 500 million per week from their bank accounts without authorization.

For corporate (business) accounts, withdrawals will be capped at UGX 250 million per day and UGX 2.5 billion per week unless prior approval is obtained.

Anyone wishing to withdraw amounts exceeding these limits will be required to seek permission from the Bank of Uganda through their commercial bank before the transaction can be processed.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, said:

"Martyr Charles Lwanga was burned alive on June 3, 1886, at the site where the Uganda Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo now stands. The Catholic Martyrs number 24.

Most of the martyrs were killed at Nakiyanja. The Protestant Martyrs number 23.

As we commemorate Martyrs Day and celebrate Christianity, let us remember Kabaka Muteesa I, who welcomed the missionaries and is regarded as a founding figure of modern Uganda. Let us also remember Kabaka Mwanga II, who executed the converts while defending his kingdom, but whose actions ultimately contributed to the spread of Christianity in Uganda."
