Prince George Desmond Kamurasi, 36, has been selected as the incoming King of Tooro, succeeding the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

The Royal Succession Committee voted 15–18 in his favor on September 4, 2026. Prince George is the grandson of the late King George Rukidi III, and his selection is said to be in line with his grandfather’s will.

The official public announcement is expected to be made after King Oyo’s burial on September 12.

Jinja Road Police have arrested three people over allegations of spreading false information and disclosing people’s private information on social media platforms.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place in July 2026 and were reportedly committed through various social media platforms.

Those arrested include Mayiga Ronald, Kakaire Swaibu, also known as One One UG, and Mugoya Mark.

About 650 people have so far recorded statements against Christian Asiimwe, also known as Don Chris, accusing him of allegedly taking money from them after promising to secure jobs for them abroad.

The victims reportedly paid amounts ranging from Shs10 million and above. The total amount involved is alleged to exceed Shs2 billion.

Asiimwe, who previously served as CEO of Sky Pins, is accused of obtaining the money through the company under promises of securing overseas employment opportunities.
