Sheikh Kakaire Sworn in as Bugweri Kadhi.
Sheikh Feiswal Sowedi Kakaire Walya has officially taken the oaths of allegiance and secrecy, administered by Hon. Abubakar Were Wandagho, Chairperson of the UMSC Independent Electoral Commission, marking the beginning of his tenure as Kadhi of Bugweri Muslim District. The colorful ceremony, held at Dawah Main Mosque in Busesa Town Council, was presided over by Sheikh Imran Ssali, UMSC Secretary for Religious Affairs, representing His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the M***i of Uganda.
The well-attended function drew numerous high-profile personalities from both the Muslim community and local government. Among them were Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Bbowa, the Busoga Regional Assistant to the M***i; UMSC General Assembly members; Kadhis from neighboring Muslim districts; and Mr. Magala Banuli, Bugweri Local Govt Residence District Commissioner - RDC who led the delegation of government officials.
Shortly after taking the oath of office, several speeches were delivered to the enthusiastic crowd. Proceedings began with a three-page handover report presented by Haj Yusuf Igambi Kakaire, Chairperson of Bugweri Muslim District and former caretaker of the Kadhi's office. The report highlighted several achievements, including the donation of a one-acre piece of land to the Muslim community by the district leadership, represented by LC5 Chairperson Haj Shafik Muziransa. It also noted the progress of the district's new headquarters, a storied structure whose first floor is nearing completion.
In their speeches, Haj Shafik Muziransa, Mr. Magala Banuli, (RDC) Haj Shaban Nkutu URA Commissioner and area MP aspirant. They all pledged, on behalf of the government, to collaborate closely with the new Muslim leadership.
In his inaugural remarks, Sheikh Feiswal Kakaire Walya thanked the Muslims of Bugweri for their support and called for continued unity and brotherhood to accelerate development in the district. He succeeds Sheikh Huzaima Magumba, the first Kadhi of the recently created Bugweri Muslim District. Sheikh Magumba was requested to step down due to not meeting certain constitutional requirements of the UMSC. Despite this, he pledged to work closely with his successor.
In a show of interfaith solidarity, Venerable Rev. Charles Bazibu Wabulembo of the Anglican Church and Bishop Christopher Kasango also pledged to strengthen cooperation with the Muslim leadership.
The day was crowned by a keynote speech from the M***i, delivered by Sheikh Imran Ssali. “Muslim faithful are equally responsible for the growth of Islam in your district. You need to work alongside the new Kadhi, provide him with developmental ideas, and support him physically. Do not turn around to blame him if he fails to deliver when left to shoulder everything alone,” the M***i emphasized.
Dr. Bbowa echoed the same message, advising, “Consult and operate your activities in line with the UMSC Constitution so that you do not go wrong.”
