Other bible versions say he was extremely rich.
When Christ talked about the difficulty of the extremely wealthy to enter the Kingdom of God, not many who heard this could relate since none had that kind of money.
For Peter and the disciples, wealth was family/home.
Question: Do you think you’d be following Jesus if you were extremely wealthy like the Rich Ruler?

What does it mean TO LISTEN? What do you hear when Moses and the Prophets are read to you? Truth be told, it’s our listening/hearing that will be our SALVATION.
Now someone will be quick to rebut this saying it is steeped in self effort.

Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.”
While this is used more with material stewardship, it is also apt for comprehension.

Curious thought:
Did Moses know that when God told him he wouldn’t enter the “promised land”, he was being prepared for a VVIP seat on a mountain in this very same promised land!? That he, with Elijah, would be on a mountain witnessing their Lord dressed up in flesh?
What did that no, that refusal from the Lord to Moses really mean? He eventually literally entered Canaan and saw the land from the Mountain of Transfiguration!
Oh the mysteries of our Lord…

There is this popular nonsense within "Christian" circles mbu, my spirit is clean/pure, but my body and my soul is dirty!! N***a please!! You is dirrty! Go take a shower in the blood of Jesus, n***a! It's like seeing a slay queen in their home. You find a dirty environment, overgrown compound and garbage in the kitchen. But the Queen swears she is clean because she has on louis vuitton and Chanel No. 5!! N***a, you is dirrrty!! The blood of Jesus isn't for those who don't like a thorough shower!
