DAY 1 of the JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE PEARL.
We began our journey at the headquarters of Rwenzori Trekking Services in Kilembe, stepping onto the historic Kilembe Trail, a path that rises steadily into the heart of the Mountains of the Moon.
The trail carried us upward toward Sine Moraine Ridge, also known as Sine Camp 2598 meters above sea level, a landscape shaped more than 20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age.
Along the ascent, the mountain revealed itself slowly. Cold streams crossed our path, rivers whispered through the valleys, and towering trees stood like silent witnesses to time.
Each step introduced a new rhythm of life, dense vegetation, ancient rock, and the quiet presence of a wilderness untouched by hurry.
This was not just a route forward, but a passage through history.
