Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei has been elected as a new supreme leader of Iran.

Born 8 September 1969.He is an Iranian politician and Shia
a member of the Khamenei family and the second eldest child of Ali Khamenei.

On 4 November 2019 the US Department of the Treasury sanctioned Mojtaba as part of their policy targeting individuals linked to Ali Khamenei, stating they were involved in repression inside and outside Iran.

He is seen as the most influential son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on 28 February 2026 by the US-Israel missile strikes that were carried out against targets in Iran.

Breaking news!!
According to reports Six American soldiers were killed in an Iranian strike against a military facility in Kuwait on Sunday, the US has confirmed.

US Central Command originally said three soldiers died in the incident but officials confirmed on Monday that the death toll had doubled, after one person succumbed to their injuries and two more bodies were found in the rubble.

Rukungiri based Radio station Boona FM Suspended.

The Uganda Communications Commission -UCC has ordered Boona FM, Rukungiri to suspend business following battles between its Radio Station Manager Namanya Kakyene Santurina and Minister of Security, Rtd. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi.

At first, it was Kakyene suspended for reportedly uttering out words against the Minister, which were deemed as below the Minimum Broadcasting Standards by the UCC.

UPDF’s Maj. Gen. Felix Kulayigye stated, “There are no abductions carried out by the State; the State arrests, it does not abduct. Let me also remind you that it was made clear: anyone who participated in the illegal parade at the NUP Headquarters in Makerere, Kavule, will be brought before court. The High Court in Kampala has set September 1, 2025, as the hearing date for the treason case against opposition politician Dr. Kizza Besigye, his aide Obeid Lutale, and a UPDF soldier, Capt. Denis Oola.
According to the hearing notice issued by the Court’s Assistant Registrar, Samuel Twakire, the hearing of evidence in this case will start at 11 a.m. during a Criminal Session of the High Court.

Mary Busingye Karoro Okurut (born 8 December 1954 and died on 11th August 2025), more commonly known as Mary Karoro Okurut, was a Ugandan educator, author and politician. She was a Cabinet Minister in Charge of General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. Prior to that, from 1 March 2015 until 6 June 2016, she served as Cabinet Minister for National Security.

The acting NRM registrar for Mbarara City, Patrick Kaweesi, has officially announced the winners of the woman city councillor primaries across several wards.

In Kamukuzi Ward, Mary Matsiko was declared the NRM flag bearer after securing 1,630 votes (44.2%), defeating incumbent Monica Mutabaruka, who garnered 771 votes (20.9%), and Barbra Rubabinda, who received 401 votes.

In Nyamityobora Ward, Flavia Kyomuhendo emerged victorious with 3,865 votes (60%), beating Jessica Byaruhanga, who polled 2,279 votes (40%).
