Yesterday, the Electoral Commission met with representatives of all eight presidential candidates and Police officials to review the first week of campaigns.

The meeting addressed emerging issues and emphasized peaceful, law-abiding conduct in line with the harmonized programme. All parties agreed to resolve concerns through dialogue, and the Commission appreciated stakeholders for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth electoral process.

South Sudan SPLM Delegation Arrives for NRM Delegates Conference

With the understanding that any Ugandan, including high-profile government officials, could one day end up in prison, the Uganda Prisons Service has confirmed the existence of VIP holding rooms and announced plans to construct more.

The Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr Johnson Byabashaija, explained that in his 20 years leading the service, he has seen several top government officials, including a Vice President, ministers, and other senior leaders, become his “clients.”

"Government unveils repair plans for roads affected by floods"

The government has launched a nationwide road renovation campaign to restore roads damaged by the ongoing floods. The move follows recent heavy rainfall in different parts of Uganda that left a trail of destruction on several major and feeder roads.

Mr Ecweru said the ministry would prioritize national roads to guarantee uninterrupted connectivity and smooth traffic flow, adding that government had already dispatched Shs250 million to each district.
