Today marks the anniversary of the passing of Uganda’s founding father and former Pres., Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, who passed away in 2005. A memorial service is being held in his honor at his ancestral home in Akokoro.

Sedrick Otolo, a young IT professional and the Co-founder of Kakebe Technologies from Lira City captured President's Museveni's attention at Baralegi State Lodge in Otuke District yesterday with a powerful speech where he called for establishment of an innovation hub in Lango subregion.

As the President addressed journalists and the media fraternity from the Lango Subregion, Sedrick rose to speak, and requested the establishment of an Innovation Hub for the Lango Region — one that would also serve the broader Northern Uganda. He explained that this has been his personal prayer and pursuit for over four years, with continuous back-and-forth engagements to see how such a center could be made possible.

Sedrick also raised a powerful second point — calling on the government to support talented young people who may not be fluent in English but possess extraordinary skills and creativity, by finding ways to accredit and recognize their abilities.

The President, visibly impressed, applauded Sedrick for looking beyond himself and speaking for the youth. He praised his vision and passion for community growth, then requested to meet him personally at State House.
