Bobi Wine At our press conference today, I addressed the nation on several pressing issues affecting our people and our Party.
I spoke about the disturbing media reports implicating elements within Uganda’s security forces—including senior army commanders—in orchestrating fake bomb threats and acts of terrorism, particularly in the greater Kampala area. For years, we have warned that the regime fabricates or exaggerates such incidents to justify its violent repression of opposition supporters. Many of our comrades continue to languish in Kitalya and Luzira prisons on trumped-up charges of terrorism and illegal possession of fi****ms. Their only “crime” was daring to stand on the side of truth and justice. Today, the regime’s own admissions further validate what we have always known: that it is the chief architect of these manufactured threats.
I also highlighted the plight of our exploited brothers and sisters in the ghettos of Kampala and beyond, young men and women lured by a few shillings to act as tools of regime propaganda and oppression. After being given yellow T-shirts and a mere Ush. 10,000/= to es**rt dictator Museveni for his NRM nomination, many of these desperate youth now sit behind bars, scapegoated for the violence and theft we witnessed across the city in the wake of dictator Museveni’s activity. Videos evidence shared widely on social media exposed these crimes, and once again, the regime's pattern is clear: use and discard, leaving the vulnerable to face consequences for state-sponsored chaos.
I also addressed troubling allegations suggesting attempts by some leaders to manipulate the ongoing vetting and harmonization process being conducted by our Elections Management Committee. We do not take these allegations lightly. That is why we have instituted an independent inquiry led by our Deputy President, H.E. Jolly Tukamushaba, to thoroughly investigate these claims and recommend action where necessary. We encourage all concerned citizens and Party members with relevant information to present it to the Committee for appropriate redress.
