Open letter to Ronald Akugizibwe Aled, the Buruli County MP
As the Greater Masindi Media Fraternity, we are fed up with your weird, unethical behavior against the journalists for refusing to cover your activities or give you space in their news bulletin.
On many occasions, you have reported presenters and news reporters to their managers or directors, demanding their sacking for not including you in their news bulletin.
Kindly take note that not everyone who speaks at the event makes news, and some stories are pitched to their editor depending on their policy in the news room.
Not anyone who speaks at the event makes news remember journalists pitch stories to their editors before they go to events, depending on the media house’s policy.
Before Radio Kitara closed, you reported two presenters to the manager, claiming that they had talked about a story not in your favor, and you prayed for their sacking, but the manager handled the matter professionally.
Again, you went to Radio 7 management and reported a reporter for not including you in the story since you were at the same event. To the worst, you demanded his sacking, but again, the management handled the matter professionally.
Just recently, you went to BBS Radio and reported a presenter to his bosses for speaking about you on-air, but not in favor.
Since that wasn’t enough, recently you went ahead and approached the proprietor of Kings FM, demanding the sacking of a presenter for not airing your stories, but the management handled it professionally.
I would like to thank the management of radio stations in Masindi for handling such matters professionally and not adhering to the pressure of ill-intentioned politicians in the district.
We are fed up with your pressure, threats, and intimidations, and you should know that you are what you are because of the media. Learn how to work with us.
Yours
Steven Wandera, President of the of the Greater Masindi Media Practitioners Association (GMEPA),
