State Minister for Economic Planning, Hon. Amos Lugolobi, has revealed that government needs Shs 509 billion annually to implement the salary enhancement for arts teachers.

He described it as a major commitment that requires thorough assessment, hence the decision to defer the increment to the next financial year.

Hon. Lugolobi added that government is still exploring funding options. By July next year, 17,000 humanities teachers are expected to receive a 25% salary increment.
