UPDATE: Uganda Approves Twice-Yearly HIV Prevention Injection!
Uganda's National Drug Authority, NDA has approved Lenacapavir, a long-acting twice-yearly dose PrEP manufactured by Gilead Sciences, a USA based company! Dr. Flavia Matovu Kiweewa hails this as great step towards ending HIV/AIDS by 2030. According to Dr Robert Mutumba, the head of the Aids Control Programme at the Ministry of Health, free access to the 300mg film-coated tablet and 464mg solution for injection starts in March targeting high-risk groups facing daily pill adherence issues due to stigma or access.

Police issue strict guidelines for fireworks displays at new year celebrations
According to Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma , fireworks shall only be discharged by a licensed explosives blaster acting on behalf of an approved applicant. While addressing the media during a security press briefing on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Police Headquarters, Naguru, He stressed that all fireworks displays must receive formal approval and be handled exclusively by licensed personnel.
