A 20-year-old man who was stabbed in the stomach in Bujogoro Village, Nyamarunda Sub-county in Kibaale district has died at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital where he was receiving treatment.

The deceased, James Akanyijuka, a resident of Kijunju Village in Bubango Sub-county in Kibaale district was attacked with a knife after being accused of stealing Shs30,000.

Residents of Kibaale Town Council and Bwamiramira Sub-county in Kibaale District are ounting losses after a heavy downpour accompanied by a violent hailstorm and strong winds destroyed acres of garden crops and unroofed 22 houses.

The most affected areas are Ngangi A Village in Kibaale Town Council and Kikaada, Kiyanda villages in Bwamiramira Sub-county.

Peter Mpaka, who recently withdrew from the Mbarara City North MP race has officially defected to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Mpaka had been a staunch official in the National Unity Platform (NUP), but withdrew from the race accusing his NUP superiors of neglecting him financially.

Speaking on Kazo FM alongside the district mobilization team ahead of the President’s visit on 28 November, Nasasira urged citizens to jealously guard the hard-won gains the country has achieved: modern factories, widespread electricity access, quality schools, good roads, a stable shilling, and, above all, peace.

Police have resumed using dogs for crowd control after an 18-year pause due to concerns about injuries to civilians during demonstrations.
