Gomba District local leaders have appealed to the government to provide at least one ambulance for the district, saying the lack of a functioning vehicle is making it difficult to transport patients.

The district has two main health facilities—Gombe General Hospital and Maddu Health Centre IV—which serve communities in Gomba and parts of Mubende and Kassanda districts.

The Chief Magistrates' Court in Kazo district has remanded three people to Rugongi Govt Prison in Kiruhura District until August 14 for allegedly murdering Annet Kamwiine who was a resident of Rwemirondo II in Kazo Town council.

The accused are Taremwa Colleb, 46, Kobunanukye Joy,76 and Byaruhanga Nelson, 28.

The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has ordered an immediate ban on the cross-border transportation of charcoal by Ugandan traders from South Sudan through all border points in the West Nile Sub-region.

The directive, aimed at curbing environmental degradation caused by commercial charcoal production, was issued by the Fourth Infantry Division Commander, Maj Gen Felix Busizoori, during a meeting with more than 20 charcoal traders at the division headquarters in Gulu City, yesterday.

Staff quarters and a pupils' latrine at Nyaburunga Primary school in Nyaburunga I, Kitura Subcounty in Kashongi county Kiruhura district.

Part of the roof of the staff quarters was blown off by wind last week forcing some teachers to take shelter in one of the classrooms.

The pupils' latrine is a timely bomb.

The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church will hold National Cleaning Day every last Sunday of the month instead of Saturday, following an agreement between Archbishop Samuel Kajoba and Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah Prime Minister.

The SDA leaders also agreed to open worship centers after the cleaning activities at 10:00 a.m. every last Saturday of the month, which is the official national cleaning day.
