Nakasongola County MP, Hon. Noah Mutebi Wanzala has announced his decision to contest as an Independent candidate in the upcoming general elections after losing the NRM flag.

Since 2016, Mutebi has held the parliamentary seat as the NRM flagbearer and in last week's NRM primaries, he was defeated by Stephen Tibelondwa Bujjingo.

Police in Kiira region have confirmed the arrest of individuals suspected to be responsible for election-related violence that erupted in Jinja and its surrounding areas.

The arrests followed chaotic scenes in Loco Cell, Jinja City where supporters of NRM mayoral aspirants Rodgers Anjoga and Faruwa Kitakule clashed in a violent confrontation leaving 13 people injured.

Kutegeka was detained by detectives at NRM offices in Kyadondo, Kampala where he had been summoned to respond to complaints stemming from NRM primary elections in Hoima.
