PFF & ANT Pray tribute to Late Justice Kanyeihamba, Judiciary Urged to Uphold Judicial Activism in Honor of Justice Kanyeihamba

The Common Ground Council (CGC) a coalition of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) and the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) have jointly held a press conference at the ANT offices in Bukoto, urging the Uganda’s judiciary to emulate the legacy of judicial activism championed by the late retired Supreme Court judge, Professor George Wilson Kanyeihamba. At the joint presser, leaders from both political groups hailed the late Justice Kanyeihamba, who passed away at age 85, for his fearless and principled judgments—particularly his landmark dissent in the 2006 presidential election petition—which they said played a critical role in shaping Uganda’s legal landscape and strengthening the rule of law.

240 Seminarians Complete Formation Program at Ggaba Major Seminary

Approximately 240 seminarians from nine Catholic dioceses across Uganda have successfully completed a month-long preparatory program at St. Mary's National Major Seminary, Ggaba. In an exclusive engagement with Uganda Catholic Television, the seminarians expressed heartfelt gratitude to their formators, program coordinators, and the Uganda Episcopal Conference. They described the experience as spiritually transformative—deepening their understanding of the priestly vocation and renewing their commitment to serve God and His people with dedication, humility, and unwavering faith.
A seminary formation program for seminarians focuses on developing the whole person, preparing them for a life of ministry through four key dimensions: human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation. These dimensions are addressed throughout the four stages of formation: propaedeutic, discipleship, configuration, and vocational synthesis. The pastoral formation program prepares seminarians to become shepherds imbued with the charity of Christ, filled with a missionary spirit, possessing pastoral competence and pastoral skills which are developed through formative, supervised educational ministry experiences that include social service ministry, teaching, ministry to the sick and needy, evangelization, promoting vocations, developing administrative skills, and the ordained ministry of the transitional deacon.

Museveni Commissions Busega Market, Opposition Leaders Faulted for Service Delivery Failures in Kampala

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially commissioned the newly constructed Busega Market and announced plans to build an access road linking the facility to the Northern Bypass. The pledge comes in response to concerns raised by traders, who pointed to traffic congestion and poor accessibility as key obstacles to business growth and customer turnout. During the ceremony, where he was accompanied by the First Lady, Janet Kataaha Museveni, the President attributed inefficiencies in public service delivery and delays in implementing livelihood programs in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area to the election of opposition politicians. UCI Alarmed Over Surge in Deadly Oesophageal Cancer Cases

The Uganda Cancer Institute has sounded an alarm over the rising incidence of Esophageal cancer, now ranked as the country’s fifth most common and second deadliest form of cancer in Uganda. According to health experts, the surge is largely driven by risk factors such as excessive alcohol consumption, to***co use, unhealthy diets, and prolonged exposure to smoke from traditional cooking methods—particularly in rural areas where firewood remains a primary energy source. The Institute is now advocating for urgent investment in diagnostic infrastructure, increased public awareness, and widespread promotion of healthy lifestyle changes to reverse the deadly trend.
Esophageal cancer is a disease where malignant (cancerous) cells form in the tissues of the esophagus, which is the tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. Two common types are adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Symptoms often include difficulty swallowing, weight loss, and chest pain. Esophageal cancer starts in your esophagus, the long muscular tube that moves food from your throat to your stomach. Most people don’t notice symptoms until after the cancer has spread. # DrAlfredJatho
