TotalEnergies EP Uganda on Monday hosted its inaugural Tilenga Project Agri-Business Forum under the theme "Empowering Farmers and Enabling Linkages: An Agriculture Value Chain Networking Forum."

The forum, held at Buliisa District headquarters, brought together over 200 farmer groups. It aimed to bridge knowledge gaps, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen sustainable agricultural value chain linkages across Uganda.

Since its inception, the Tilenga Project has supported over 10,000 households across Buliisa, Hoima, Kikuube, Nwoya, and Pakwach districts through livelihood restoration programs. These include the provision of improved seeds, livestock breeds, and training, alongside the establishment of demonstration farms and farmer groups.

Local leaders and stakeholders in the greater Nebbi have expressed concern over the growing trend of commercializing politics, saying the practice undermines citizens' right to freely choose legitimate and capable leaders.

They argue that lump sum payments given to voters by political aspirants distort democratic processes and encourage short-term interests over long-term leadership quality.

The Executive Director of Lacito and Chief Organizer of the Luo Cultural Festival, Grace Oloya, together with her team, yesterday engaged the Jonam Cultural Institution in a consultative meeting to seek formal endorsement for the upcoming festival.

The inaugural of the Three Days Event (Luo Cultural Festival) is scheduled for 25th to 27th, July 2025, at Park View Resort in Pakwach Town Council, Pakwach District. The event aims to unite Luo-speaking communities from across the globe to celebrate and showcase the diversity and richness of their cultural heritage, and exploring the potential tourist sites in Pakwach District.

A joint team from Pakwach District Local Government, including PostBank Pakwach Branch Manager Achan Irene Padwar, District Community Development Officer Benedette Awori, District GROW Focal Point Person Jinaro Okello, and District Chairperson Omito Robert Steen, participated in a session aimed at discussing, sensitizing, and providing clarity on the the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project

The GROW Project is a government initiative funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development in collaboration with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda. The project is designed to support women entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses, with a focus on refugee-hosting districts.

The Jonam Cultural Institution has distanced itself from claims that it has endorsed certain political aspirants ahead of the 2026 general elections.

According to Silvious Okwong, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kaal Ker Kwaro Jonam, the institution only blesses candidates with what he termed as "good luck" but does not take sides in political contests.

MTN Uganda, in partnership with ATC Uganda, and Alur Kingdom have installed a solar power system at Alwi Health Centre III in Pakwach District. The system includes 32 solar panels, 12 batteries, and 3 inverters, valued at millions of shillings. It will generate 15KVA of electricity, providing power for up to 16 hours daily.

MTN Uganda CEO, Sylvia Mulinge, said the investment aims to improve healthcare delivery by providing stable electricity, and water at the facility.

Alwi Health Centre III serves 64 villages, with a catchment population of about 20,000. The facility receives approximately 80 patients daily.
