TRADE ! anzania has officially launched a $1.2 billion uranium mining and processing project in partnership with Russia’s state-owned nuclear energy giant, Rosatom.

It is one of the largest foreign investments in Tanzania's mining sector. The uranium mine is located in the Mkuju River area of the Namtumbo District in the southern region of Ruvuma.

It is expected to create over 4,000 direct jobs and more than 100,000 indirect opportunities across sectors such as logistics, energy, and infrastructure.

Tanzania's Mkuju River deposit holds an estimated 58,500 tonnes of uranium reserves. When fully operational, the uranium mine will produce up to 3,000 tonnes of uranium annually over a 22-year lifespan.

This would take Tanzania to the top 10 uranium producers in the world.

GAZA WAR! Activists, including friends of Gaza hostage Rom Braslavski, blocked aid from entering the Gaza Strip while, in a separate incident, aid trucks coming from Jordan had their tires slashed on Sunday night, Israeli media reports.

One of the activists, who, like Braslavski, served as a security officer at the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, referred to the footage of Braslavski published by Palestinian Islamic Jihad over the weekend.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the match schedule (fixtures) for the forthcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The tournament will kickoff on Saturday, 2nd August 2025 with Tanzania taking on Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania is one of the co-hosts of the biennial tournament alongside Neighbours Uganda and Kenya.

The Uganda Cranes who are pooled in Group C will kickstart the tournament against last edition’s hosts and finalists Algeria. The game will be played on Monday 4th August (8PM EAT) at Mandela National Stadium. The same day, Niger would played Guinea earlier on.

FOOD LOOTING: Hamas accused
The IDF on Tuesday released a video of Hamas terrorists looting humanitarian aid filmed earlier this week.

“Contrary to Hamas’s false claims that the individuals in the video are security personnel, they are in fact Hamas terrorists who arrived to seize the aid from Gaza’s residents,” the military stated.

“Even when aid is delivered into Gaza, Hamas loots it for its own use, blatantly disregarding the needs of the population.”

BIG BLOW: Netherlands Bans Two Israeli Ministers from entering soil
The Netherlands announced on Monday night that National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich would be banned from entering the country.

"The cabinet has therefore decided to declare Israeli ministers Smotrich and Ben-Gvir persona non grata and is committed to registering them as undesirable aliens in the Schengen registration system," Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp said.
