📜 PRIDE COMES BEFORE THE FALL
In the bustling town of Mbale, there lived a man called Okello, known for his charm, sharp dressing, and booming carpentry business. Everyone admired his skill — he could turn the roughest piece of wood into fine furniture fit for a palace.
But with success came pride. Okello started looking down on other carpenters, laughing at their “cheap work.” When customers came, he charged three times more than before, telling them, “If you can’t afford me, go to the roadside carpenters.”
One day, a big hotel project came to town. Okello was sure the contract was his — after all, who could compete? But when the hotel owners saw his arrogance and refusal to negotiate, they gave the deal to a humble carpenter from the next village, Musa.
Months later, Musa’s business had grown so much that he opened a large workshop, while Okello’s customers slowly drifted away. The man who once walked with his head high was now sitting alone, wondering how it all slipped through his fingers.
💡 Life Lessons:
Humility keeps doors open; pride closes them.
No one is too big to fall.
Respect others — the people you look down on today may be the ones you need tomorrow.
In African culture, we say: “A tree that thinks it’s taller than the forest will be struck by lightning first.”
📌 Stay humble, work hard, and let your character grow faster than your success.
