EXPECT RAIN TONIGHT THOUGH TUESDAY FROM TROPICAL DEPRESSION OFF CAROLINA COAST

Here's the latest info this morning from NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center on Tropical Depression 9.

The new official forecast track curves the storm away from the coast earlier, thus the chance for a landfall in the Carolinas or Southeast is decreasing.

We will see a good chance for rain in central NC late tonight through much of Tuesday, but the threat of direct effects from Tropical Depression 9 are looking very low this morning.

HEAD-ON COLLISION OUTSIDE CAMERON SATURDAY NIGHT

Just before midnight Saturday night emergency responders were dispatched to NC 24/27 near Crains Creek Road for a head-on collision.

One vehicle had a pregnant female along with another female with a small child while the other car had one male driver. Fortunately, no one was trapped in the wreck however, everyone was transported to the hospital.

N.C. 24/27 was closed for over an hour for the investigation and to remove the vehicles.

Responding were units with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff's Office, and the NC State Highway Patrol.

The Laurinburg Police Department is asking the public assistance in locating Rashawn Marquelle Dudley, 29 years of age from a Hickory Street address in Laurinburg, NC.

Dudley is wanted by the Laurinburg Police Department on 1st Degree Statutory R**e, Statutory R**e of a Child under 15; 1st Degree Forcible S*x Offense and Indecent Liberties with a Child.

ABERDEEN MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD EXPLOITATION CHARGES

Sheriff Ronnie Fields announces the arrest of an Aberdeen resident on child sexual exploitation charges following an investigation conducted by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of Special Agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Computer Crimes Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Sand Pit Road in Aberdeen where forensic specialists uncovered multiple illegal files involving minor children.

The investigation was initiated after the Sheriff’s Office received a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Following the search warrant, Wayne Francis Sands Sr., 61, of Aberdeen was arrested.

Sands was charged with five counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on October 8, 2025. This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are active participants in the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which works diligently to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
