NC ANNOUNCES 1 FISH DAILY LIMIT FOR FLOUNDER THIS FALL

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) will open the 2026 flounder harvest season for Inland Fishing Waters and in Joint Fishing Waters for hook and line fishing only, Sept. 1 to Sept. 14, 2026.

The daily creel limit is one fish with a minimum size limit of 15 inches.

“We have worked closely with the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries to ensure that regulations match across jurisdictional lines. This will provide regulatory consistency and avoid angler confusion” said NCWRC Inland Fisheries Assistant Chief Ben Ricks.

According to a recent proclamation, N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries opened its recreational harvest season for the same two weeks, so the season, size limit and daily creel limit will be consistent across jurisdictions.

ONE CHARGED AFTER FLEEING LAW ENFORCEMENT

The Aberdeen Police Department announces the arrest of Thomas Eugene Frederick, 45 years of age, of Southern Pines, North Carolina.

On, June 2, 2026, just before midnight, Aberdeen officers were conducting speed enforcement on US Highway 1, when an officer located a vehicle traveling well above the posted speed limit, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The vehicle failed to stop for emergency equipment and continued traveling Southbound on US Highway 1 before he turned onto Elm Street and then traveling on Poplar Street, running stop signs and committing additional traffic violations.

The vehicle continued to fail to heed emergency equipment and traveled to Peach Avenue, where it hit a residential mailbox next to a driveway that it pulled into.

The driver, later identified as Frederick, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

He was quickly apprehended behind a home and taken into custody. An investigation continued into the morning hours of June 3, 2026, and

Frederick was charged with Felony Flee/Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Driving While Impaired, Misdemeanor Reckless Driving/Wanton Disregard, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property, Misdemeanor Second Degree Trespass, Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Failure to Maintain Lane Control, and Speeding.

Frederick was taken before a Moore County Magistrate, where he was given no bond, pending a hearing before a judge.
