It's West Texas Dispatch Day!

🎙 On Today’s Episode of West Texas Dispatch:

Abilene’s reputation as one of Texas’s most affordable cities may be changing. We’re looking at how AI-driven growth and major cuts to housing assistance are pushing low-income families out of the market.

West Texas voters will see at least two open seats on their ballots next year. With the filing window for the March primary now closed, we’ll break down the candidates who made the list.

Texas leads the nation in blood plasma donations. Today, we launch our new series “Blood Work” with its first in-depth report.

And finally—protein from a fiber crop? One Texas researcher is working on an edible version of one of the state’s biggest agricultural staples.

✨ Join us for our final Coffee with KACU of 2025! ✨
This Friday at 8:30 AM, we’re gathering for a very special sendoff—our last Coffee with host Olivia Cromis!

Olivia has been part of KACU throughout her entire college career, and as she graduates this December, we want to celebrate her, cheer her on, and thank her for the joy and talent she’s brought to our station. ☕💙

Enjoy a warm cup of Monks Coffee Shop coffee, connect with fellow community members, and help us give Olivia the heartfelt farewell she deserves. Plus—we’ll be giving away a pair of tickets to our annual Radio Play to one lucky attendee! 🎟️✨

We’d love to see you there for this memorable, festive, and final Coffee of the year! 🌟

It’s time for a new episode of West Texas Dispatch!

December brings chilly weather and warm hearts as our community steps up to support one another. This week, we’re checking in on the Salvation Army’s annual bell-ringing and Angel Tree campaigns.

It’s also Medicare enrollment season, and for many seniors, the process can feel overwhelming—so we’re getting helpful guidance from a local expert.

A new book offers an intimate look at the life of a beloved West Texas musician, told through his daughter’s eyes.

The NCCIL is the home for all things children’s literature–we’ll hear how they work to build a love of reading with children.

And we’re getting a festive preview of the Abilene Philharmonic’s Christmas concert—Conductor’s Notes brings you an inside look at The Three Tenors Christmas.

Tune in to West Texas Dispatch on KACU today at noon! 🎙️✨
