🎒📚 Welcome back, Abington!

The backpacks are packed, the pencils are sharpened, the alarm clocks are officially back on duty—and summer vacation is officially in the rearview mirror! 😂

Wishing all Abington Public Schools students, teachers, staff, and families a fantastic first day and an incredible year ahead. May it be filled with new friends, new adventures, big dreams, plenty of learning, and lots of reasons to smile.

How are Flock cameras being used in Abington—and what happens to the data they collect?

In the latest episode of Town Manager’s Corner, Abington Town Manager Michael Maresco is joined by Police Chief John Bonney for an in-depth discussion about the town’s use of Flock cameras, a law enforcement technology that has helps investigators solve crimes and locate missing people, while also raising questions and concerns about privacy and the use of collected data.

Mr. Maresco and Chief Bonney discuss the pros and cons of the system, examples of how Flock cameras have assisted law enforcement, Abington Police Department’s policies regarding the use and sharing of camera data, and the safeguards in place to prevent misuse.

They also answer questions submitted by Abington residents, including questions about how the cameras are being used and the finances behind the system.

Abington residents: Do you have questions about the town’s use of Flock Cameras?

Town Manager Michael Maresco and Police Chief John Bonney will be addressing residents’ questions in an upcoming informational segment.

Questions will focus on how Flock Cameras are used, who can access the information, storage and security, how long data is retained, auditing, and penalties for misuse.

✨ A magical moment today at Abington CAM!

State Representative Alyson Sullivan-Almeida surprised Travis Partington, host of Abington Veterans Muster, with an official citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives in recognition of another veteran-focused podcast he produces, called Oscar Mike Radio, which recently celebrated its 500th episode.

For 500 episodes, the podcast has connected veterans across Massachusetts and the nation with vital information about benefits, services, resources, and the support they deserve.

Congratulations to Travis on this incredible milestone! A special thank you to Rep. Alyson Sullivan-Almeida for recognizing his dedication to the veteran community, and to Adam Gunn, Abington’s Director of Veterans Services, for helping arrange this memorable surprise.
