You and I weren’t just misguided before Christ. We were spiritually dead, lifeless, unable to reach out to God, trapped in sin (Ephesians 2:1).

But the miracle of the Gospel is this:

God didn’t send Jesus to improve our morality. He sent Him to raise us from death to life.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. — Ephesians 2:4-5
