Daily Spoon: A daily portion of unfiltered gospel, wisdom, empowerment and encouragement to keep you rooted and growing in God’s truth and his word.
I don’t know who needs to read this, but this is a word to everyone: You cannot bear fruit for God if your roots are planted in the world. Your roots must be planted in the Word of God.
Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”
John 15:6 KJV
This demonstrates denying your flesh and walking with Christ and sowing to your spirit man, which is what the flesh will not agree with. There is no way around it. You will either crucify the flesh, or the flesh will crucify you. Not if it does, but when. That outcome is guaranteed. “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” Galatians 5:24 KJV
There will always be a war between your flesh and your spirit. The flesh is born into sin, but your spirit is born of God. Scripture is clear about this conflict. “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
Galatians 5:17 KJV
The one you train the most will always be the one that wins the battle.
Think about it this way, everyday you feed your body the moment it cries out. You respond to hunger, cravings, emotions, wounds, ego, pride, and desire. Whether it is physical food or emotional comfort, your flesh is constantly being nourished with what it wants and what it likes. Meanwhile, your spirit man is often left neglected.
Your spirit man grows weak when there is no relationship with God. No prayer. No time in His Word. No studying. No worship. No fellowship with other believers to strengthen your faith. No quiet time to hear His voice. No obedience. No surrender.
Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4 KJV
When the Word is absent, your spirit starves.
Prayer is how your spirit breathes. “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Luke 18:1 KJV
Fellowship is another way your spirit is strengthened. “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.” Hebrews 10:24-25 KJV
When these principles are missing, your spirit does not scream. It whispers, because it has been deprived. It becomes weak, exhausted, and voiceless after fighting a constant war with a flesh that is well fed and fully supported.
The apostle Paul said, “But though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 KJV
But renewal does not happen automatically. It happens through daily attention, daily surrender, and daily feeding of the spirit.
With each day of neglect, your flesh gains more control and authority over your life, while the voice of your spirit grows quieter and quieter.
Do not continue the cycle of nourishing what is temporary while starving what is eternal. “For the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 KJV
Do not keep dressing your flesh while leaving your spirit naked and defenseless. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Ephesians 6:11-12 KJV
If the devil attacks and all he sees on the battlefield is your flesh, you will have no armor, no authority, and no spiritual defense to stand, fight, or overcome.
It is dangerous to silence and disarm the very thing God gave you to walk in victory. His spirit.
“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 KJV
Peace and blessings!
