BREAKING: Government prosecutors have asked the court to dismiss two of Dr. Riek Machar’s lawyers, arguing they lack valid licenses. The defense claims the lawyers were unfairly denied registration, but prosecutors insist licensing is the responsibility of the Bar Association and that the lawyers failed to meet its standards.

Today’s court hearing lasted for 30 minutes and has been adjourned again till next Monday, 29th September 2025

National Security Service Detains Dr. Riek Machar's Cameraman

Yesterday morning, at approximately 07:30 AM CTA, the National Security Service (NSS) in Juba detained Mr. Naathdial Tuak Yerock at the Freedom Hall entrance. He was on his way to attend the first hearing of the politically motivated trial of H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon and other SPLM/A-IO political detainees.

Mr. Yerock, a Senior Photographer in the Media and Press Department in the Office of the First Vice President, H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, was subsequently taken to the NSS detention center on the riverside in Juba.

This incident represents a continuing pattern of arbitrary and unlawful detention by the NSS and other security apparatuses against constitutional post-holders, senior officials and officers, and members of SPLM/A (IO).

The Office of the First Vice President condemns in the strongest possible terms the arbitrary arrest and detention of its staff.

We, therefore, call for the immediate release of Mr. Naathdial Tuak Yerock and all other detained SPLM/A-IO officials and officers.

Fighting erupted early this morning at around 8:30am when the SSPDF launched an attack against the SPLA-IO base of brigade 4 division 2B in morobo county . However, the SPLA-IO force successful repulsed the attackers with heavy losses on their sides as
15 enemy bodies found on the ground, 3 pkm, 1 RPG and 15 Ak 47 captured in a good condition. Several of their wounded soldiers were left behind as they fled in disarray.

This attack came as South Sudanese and the world at large is following the illegal, unconstitutional and politically motivated trial of the FVP and 7 other SPLM/A-IO officials in Juba by the SPLM-IG.

The SPLA-IO command congratulates its forces for this successful operation against the SSPDF attack.

Dr. Machar’s Legal Team calls Nasir case a violation of cease-fire

Dr. Geri Raimondu, head of Dr. Riek Machar Teny’s legal team, has described the Nasir case as a violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two parties (The government and the SPLM-IO).

He stated that the matter should instead be investigated by the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMM), insisting that it is not an issue for the courts.

Meanwhile, Dr. Machar’s legal team continues to challenge both the competency and jurisdiction of the Special Court currently handling the case.
