🗞️ARC V3 📰

We’re extremely excited to announce that Akron Recording Company has purchased a building! Thanks to our community, family & friends for your continued support over the last 8 years! We truly appreciate every single artist, band, organization, audio session, video production, & live sound gig that we’ve been a part of over the years! With your help we’re turning our dreams of owning property into a reality!

Along with our good friend & engineer We have acquired a property that’s been in Benny’s family since 1961! His great grandparents Ralph & Theresa Wilson started Wilson Plumbing & Heating in 1958 and then purchased 445 W. Cedar St.,
originally built in 1919 for The Averill Dairy Co. The building has been in the family ever since and we’re so thrilled to be continuing the legacy!

A brick 20,000 square ft. building that has tons of character & charm. It’s a mix of office & warehouse space and is in the Five Points neighborhood just outside of downtown. Not only is the building the new home for ARC, but it will soon become a hub for all things music & art in Akron!

We can’t wait for all of the new opportunities and ventures to take form
BUT in the meantime ARC has officially moved and already has the studio setup! We have an amazing 3,000 sq ft space that has ALL of our gear & still ALL of that ARC charm!

We’re currently booking audio & video sessions for December & beyond so come by and check out our new digs! We’ve already been working there all month with clients and have been LOVING the results in the new building! 💚

In ARC News 🗞️:

Recently we had some amazing jazz artists visit us from out of state! It feels really special when people make the journey to Akron, they could be anywhere in the world but they’re right here at ARC!

In October we had the great pleasure of working with visiting from Maryland & captured an awesome set of live audio & video w his all star group Stephen Philip Harvey Octet (SPH8) which features a stellar cast including a few local Akron/Cle musicians! Stephen brings his groups to Akron & Cle frequently so be sure to check them out!

Late in August we had the amazing visit us with her band from NYC to perform a couple jazz standards with a special twist & more! We were so lucky to capture audio & video of them swingin’ in full force. A truly incredible voice and band!

Sharing the recording studio with an artist is such a great bonding experience. At ARC we try hard to make each session a memorable one both through the music captured & the laughs shared! When we have guests travel in from out of state we want to help represent the best of Akron and show them why it’s a great place for music & art! If you’re traveling through northeast Ohio on tour, looking for an escape to produce your next project or are local to the area and need a new studio, hit us up to learn more! 💚

We had a great day filming over we’re so lucky to be surrounded amazing art and music almost daily!

Today we got to capture footage for this incredible artwork by Petah Coyne currently on display at AAM! The work uses apple trees, taxidermy peacocks and lots of other natural materials the artists sources sustainably. We highly encourage you to take a trip to the museum and see this amazing art and more for yourself. Also swipe through to learn more about this piece!

Bye Bye Summer! 👋

Wow summer 2025 was one for the books, and we were lucky to get outside and enjoy some of the beautiful weather! From mixing & mastering lots of new songs/records, to recording new work in studio with some clients old & new, to a plethora of video productions, and live sound gigs too!

Summertime is our favorite time but sometimes when it gets goin we forget to post about all of the fun projects we’ve been lucky to work on! Check out some of our summer highlights & hit us up this fall or winter to bring your next audio/video project to life! 💚

If you don’t know by now….ARC LOVES our gear, especially our analog gear! We invite you to nerd out with us over a couple of our most recent acquisitions! 🤓🎚️🎛️

1. Otari MTR-10: A 2 channel 1/4 inch professional reel-to-reel tape recorder known for its high-quality audio recording and editing capabilities. It features a 3-head configuration, microprocessor control, and a servo-controlled tape transport. Key specifications include tape speeds of 7.5, 15, and 30 ips making this thing an analog lovers dream come true! Perfect for adding that extra sauce & tape warmth to your digital recordings!

2. Mica-Sonic Bongos: Extremely rare battery powered electronic drums made in Japan in the 1970’s. Includes five e-drums in total: two congas, two bongos, and a wood block. A “mute” control on each one toggles a reverb sound on and off. You might not think you know this set of electronic drums, but rest assured, you do. Depending on your age, you know them from one of two places, Ann Peebles’ “I Can’t Stand the Rain,” the majestic title track of her 1973 album. Or, if you’re a little younger, it’s all thanks to Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa D**a Fly).” That 1997 track prominently sampled the electronic drum beat and hook from Peebles’ classic. 3. Yamaha P2200 Power Amplifier: a professional power amplifier known for its robust and clean sound. It delivers 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms with less than 0.05% THD, and 350 watts into 4 ohms, both channels driven. It also features a bridged mono mode with up to 700 watts output. This amp has been a long time classic for use with Yamahas famous NS10 monitors! Can’t wait to pair those 2 up for a match made in audio engineering heaven!
