My entire life i have always had a fascination with photography. Ever since i was little i have always had some sort of camera in my hands. I can remember back to when i was only 4 or 5 and i always had some sort of blue kids film camera that never had film in it i just used my little kid imagination and took the (amazing photos) of my everyday life. Seeing my mom all the time even with those Kodak throwaway film cameras were a joy to watch. She even let me take the photos once in a while of the family or even if i was just fascinated with something at a particular moment.
From there my photography obsession took off. For the longest time i had a little digital camera that if i remember right was a Nixon Coolpix. I took thousands of photos over the course of the time i had that camera. I thought all of those photos were amazing until i got a phone that took just as good pictures. Then i realized that it was time for an upgrade. So i got another small digital camera that i cant remember the name of but i had lost it on a fishing trip when it flew off the back of the boat when we hit a big wave ( I was not a happy camper.)
In the past couple years i have been using a little Canon Powershot camera which has been taking amazing photos. Until i found the photos of when i was a little kid i did not realize how the style and quality of my photos have really changed. In the past year i have recently been going way of of my comfort zone and experimenting with new styles and techniques. It has been a blast taking these photos and going out of my comfort zone and with it i have really been able to expand my portfolio.
Going out of my comfort zone was only because i had a teacher in college that was a film (black and white film photography) class. He had encouraged me in many different styles and techniques wether through excitement or criticism. With this class came a lot of new projects and techniques that were new to me and have made me a better photographer. I now pay attention to the details of each shot such as different ways light is hitting the subject. Until then i just really placed a subject where they looked good.
It has not been until recently, this past Winter that i have been getting into more videography. I filmed projects in high school and Erie 1 Boces but i have never gone further into it. I recently had a job that i traveled the country filming and supervising dance competitions all around the country. This was such a great experience that i have now also been filming different things for professional and fun videos as well.
I look forward to where these next steps in my career take me and i look forward to working with many people to come.
