The most delicious food and Drew is a great guy! Vegan Gator
Words to live by: “Work hard while you’re young, or work hard when you’re older.”
“I didn’t have a lot of culinary background - my family is mostly in the medical field - but this is something that I became passionate about, especially the vegan food. It started off as just a stomach ailment - I was lactose intolerant and had IBS really bad - but then it turned into a love for the animals, a love for the community, and a love for the environment. I’ve learned a lot on this journey which has made me very passionate about it. I try my hardest to do as much as I can for the community because I feel that that is my passion more than making money. I have a family that I love very much – I have two kids that I’ve had in the last two years, so that’s a lot of my time.”
“We try to engage as much as possible with the customers. We do Meatless Mondays at the Fourth Ave. Food Park. You can also catch us at 8th Ave next to Germain’s, our original home location. We do the monthly Moo-kets at Critter Creek Farm Sanctuary (see HOG post of March 7, 2023). I also have a vegan event called the Vegan League that I do with Anna, my V-spot partner. We are definitely a social media based business and pop up in a variety of places. If you have Instagram or Facebook that’s the easiest way to track us down - we post where we’re going to be.”
“I’m from East Gainesville. My community there has taken a while… We appreciate everybody that comes – we support whatever journey they’re on. My job is to just be the guy to introduce it. Sometimes when people think of vegan food they think of salads and like steamed vegetables. When I go to restaurants I’m usually getting fries or beans. But with my truck we can show vegan food in a different light – more like burgers, loaded fries, nostalgia stuff – stuff they enjoy that they don’t get anymore. People don’t put the time or love into food anymore.”
“I love the vibe of Gainesville. We got a vibe here that nobody else has. You know some cities are super fast. We’re very liberal here. People are free thinkers. It’s not all about money here and I love that. Gainesville is like an open-arms town - you come here and they open their arms to you.”
