New polling from shows former Governor entering the U.S. Senate race with strong statewide standing. He holds 55% approval, 38% disapproval, and just 6% of voters say they are unfamiliar with him.

Cooper’s support spans party lines: 30% of Republicans, 54% of independents, and 85% of Democrats approve of his performance. He also earns broad backing across racial and ethnic groups, with three-quarters of Black respondents and a majority of Hispanic/Latino respondents approving.

The poll was carried out by YouGov for Catawba College’s Center for North Carolina Politics & Public Service between August 11 and 18, 2025. Researchers interviewed 1,194 residents, then adjusted the data to create a representative sample of 1,000 adults. The margin of error is ±3.86 percentage points overall, with higher variability for smaller groups. Results are meant to provide insight, not predict outcomes.

New polling from shows Gov. Josh Stein commanding support across North Carolina. Geographically, Stein's approval is broad: 62% in urban counties, 60% in surrounding suburbs, and 56% in both central cities and rural areas.

Even 41% of Trump 2024 voters say they approve of his performance. Stein’s numbers have remained steady through 2025 polls—56% in March, 53% in June, and back up to 58% in August.

The Republican-controlled NC State Board of Elections just gave counties the green light to eliminate Sunday voting—a direct hit on “Souls to the Polls,” when Black churches mobilize voters after Sunday service. Davidson County has already cut it, even though turnout was strong in past elections. Critics warn this echoes past efforts struck down for targeting Black voters “with almost surgical precision.”
