In 2023, expanded Medicaid to more than 650,000 North Carolinians, providing a critical lifeline to rural hospitals across the state. Today, Republicans in Washington have slashed nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid, putting those same hospitals at risk of closing. Hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians could lose coverage, with rural communities bearing the heaviest burden.
