I used to think retirement meant waiting until I was 65 to finally start living. But the more I looked around, the more I realized I didn’t want to wait decades for freedom, travel, or joy. I didn’t want a big house or a traditional plan. I wanted space—not square footage, but space to breathe, to move, to explore.
Van life became my version of early retirement. It’s not about luxury—it’s about sunsets out the back door, coffee with a mountain view, and the kind of peace you only find when your home has wheels. I still work, sure, but I live like I always thought retirement should feel: slow mornings, open roads, and fewer things cluttering up my days.
This lifestyle isn’t for everyone, but for me, it’s freedom. It’s trading in the idea of “someday” for right now. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
