Johnny Rockets is officially returning to Crossgates Mall 🍔🥤

The retro 1950s-style diner is set to reopen later this year in its original location on the lower level near Regal Cinemas, bringing burgers, fries, hand-spun shakes and plenty of 1950’s nostalgia back to the mall 🙌

Johnny Rockets originally opened at Crossgates in 1998 and operated until closing during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The restaurant has remained closed ever since, with much of the old location still intact 👀

An official reopening date has not yet been announced 📲 stay tuned for more updates

This might be one of the most important farms in Upstate New York 👀

Located in Voorheesville, Patroon Land Farm is a 162-acre property operated by the Regional Food Bank, growing more than 50 varieties of fruits, vegetables and herbs for neighbors facing food insecurity. Each year, thousands of volunteers help keep the farm running, lending a hand with everything from planting and weeding to maintaining the fields and harvesting fresh produce 🌾

On September 18 and 19, the Regional Food Bank is hosting its 24-Hour Volunteer-a-Thon, bringing volunteers together around the clock to help fight hunger across the region. Anyone can volunteer, whether it’s during the Volunteer-a-Thon or throughout the growing season, and help keep fresh food growing for our neighbors 🙌

A new exhibit commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11 is now on display at the New York State Museum in Albany 🇺🇸

“World Trade Center: Rescue, Recovery, Response” uses artifacts, photographs and firsthand stories to document the attacks and the rescue and recovery efforts that followed. The museum holds a collection of more than 4,000 artifacts related to the World Trade Center and 9/11.

The exhibit also marks an important transition in how September 11 is remembered. As an entire generation grows up with no firsthand memory of that day, the museum is working to preserve not only the artifacts, but the personal stories behind them for future generations.

Take a peek around Frank Adams Jewelers 👀

Today, the fourth-generation family-owned jeweler operates out of a 7,500-square-foot showroom featuring fine jewelry, luxury watches, bridal and engagement pieces, along with on-site watchmaking, jewelry repair and other services. The store is also known for carrying internationally recognized luxury jewelry and timepiece brands, including Rolex, alongside a range of designer collections 💍

Before the sprawling showroom on Wolf Road, Frank Adams Jewelers got its start more than a century ago in downtown Albany. Founder Frank H. Adams opened the business in 1922 as a small watch repair shop on North Pearl Street. Over the decades, the family business became a longtime fixture of downtown Albany before eventually moving to Stuyvesant Plaza and later to its current flagship location on Wolf Road 📍

More than 100 years after Frank Adams first started repairing watches on North Pearl Street, the family name is still going strong right here in the Capital Region 👏

A greener Empire State Plaza could be coming to Albany 🏗️🌳

New York State has unveiled a new vision for reconnecting the Empire State Plaza with the surrounding city, backed by a $25 million investment. Plans call for improvements aimed at making the 98-acre complex more welcoming and accessible, including a new west-side “porch” and walkway, additional green space, upgrades to the Corning Tower observation deck and an expanded visitor center 🙌

The project is part of the larger $400 million Championing Albany’s Potential initiative aimed at revitalizing the Capital city 👏

Located inside the former Moby Rick’s Seafood, Viva Empanadas is an authentic, Latin kitchen serving up handmade empanadas, elevated entrees and creative cocktails in this beautifully renovated space. Every dish and drink is packed with unique flavors inspired by the owner’s culture, her travels and past culinary experience after relocating Upstate from New York City in 2020.

Viva Empanadas also operates in Latham’s Galleria 7 Market and on N. Pearl Street in downtown Albany. Citing slow business in the Albany location due to a lack of people downtown, the team is hoping to see more consistent support from the Saratoga community so they can introduce their top-tier food to a new group of people, and live their dream of running a thriving, woman-owned small business in the Great Upstate 🫶

Give them a warm welcome to the Spa City and stop in to get the full dining experience or to grab some takeout —you will not be disappointed 🤩
