As and A&R, I’m always looking for fresh takes and bold arrangements. So signing this one, was an immediate decision. And even better when the artist is a long time friend. Welcome on Sounds of Khemit

Beatport agrees, and features this track as #1 Indie Dance Hype of the week.

Livermore Cumbia opens the EP with the collision built into its title. Livermore, the Northern California town best known for one of the country’s oldest nuclear research laboratories, meets cumbia, one of the oldest folk rhythms of the Americas. Ancient hips in a room full of servers. The track moves the way the phrase suggests: steady, hypnotic, joyful.

Sounds of Khemit reaches its fiftieth catalogue release with the debut of Sen Sanik on the label. A two track EP built around a single question, and no clean answer.

Are we human, or are we machine. Machines controlling us, or us controlling them. puts the question in the middle of the record and lets the drums work on it. He does not resolve it, because the honest answer is that the border has already moved, and keeps moving. What he does instead is exactly what he has been doing for fifteen years: deep resonant drums, syncopated techno rhythms, and melodies that
arrive as if remembered rather than written.

Dirty is a collaboration between SimbaSōl and Rameff lean into organic house with strong synthesizer sound design, building the track from flowing synths and grooving percussion. It is the loosest groove that will get your DNA in sync. 🕺🏻💃🏻

was dancing before he could walk. He was raised by hippies who passed harmonicas and djembes around the campfire, brought up inside a kind of music that asked nothing of him except that he move. Years later he found the same feeling under a disco ball, and The Cool is the sound of those two events becoming one.
The title track is built around the voice of Prince. The sample is lifted from his 1999 speech at the Yahoo Internet Life Online Music Awards, the moment he warned a room of music industry insiders that the computer was a fine tool right up until it started using them.
He framed it as a quiet war, the mind as the battlefield and the soul as the prize. The song carries his words on purpose. It’s Cool takes its name straight from his warning.

SoK048 - what does the dancefloor say?

Much love to all the supporters of Jezebel / 1K Drums by To Ricciardi🇵🇹 Bikura

Here are some selected feedbacks.

Welcome to the Sounds of Khemit Family. The exquisite tastemaker, based in Lisbon, is a man of many facettes. His interpretation of 1K Drums leans into dub and deep house to achieve a emotional journey. Make sure to listen on a (im)proper Soundsystem!

Then comes 1k Drums, and with it a reunion. It features Margarida Pinto, one of the most superlative
voices Portugal has produced, a singer long kept like a secret. She and To Ricciardi go back to the
Coldfinger years, that early 2000s stretch when a generation rewired Portuguese pop with
technology and kept the organic balance intact. Hearing them work together again, two decades on,
is a conversation that never really ended. 1k Drums is the deeper heart of the record, hypnotic and
emotional, built for the dancefloors where feeling matters more than force.

Welcome back

Adding his flair onto Jezebel, Bikura turns the Deep House tune into a melodic organic techno hybrid that’s bound to take over the late night dancefloors

For more than thirty years he has been a pillar of the Lisbon electronic underground, his name a thread running through the modern history of Portuguese dance music. Early work on Tribal America and Kaos. The founder of Nylon Discographics and Lupeca. Records and studios shared with Richard Dorfmeister, Tosca, DJ Vibe, Madredeus and a long line of others.
Jezebel / 1k Drums is his first appearance on Sounds of Khemit, and it feels less like an introduction than like two old roads finally crossing.
