The tire was flat already before I entered the car. Only noticed it by the noise when I started driving

I’m honestly pretty furious right now.

I took my car in for what should’ve been the easiest fix ever—a tiny nail in the tire. I’m thinking quick plug, in and out, done.

Instead, I get told, “It’s in the sidewall, you need a whole new tire.”

I’m looking at it like… are we even talking about the same tire? Because the nail is clearly in the tread, nowhere near the sidewall. But somehow it instantly went from a simple repair to a $260 tire replacement like I was just supposed to agree and hand over my card.

I told him that was ridiculous, called it out, and left.

Now I’m sitting here wondering if I’m crazy or if shops really expect people to just panic-buy new tires over stuff like this. Because from where I’m standing, this looks like something that could’ve been a basic plug in my driveway for a few bucks—not “your tire is about to explode” level like he was making it sound.

Am I overthinking it, or did that feel like a straight-up upsell?

I am absolutely livid because I just dropped **$2,100** on these tires two weeks ago, and the shop is already trying to scam me into a full replacement for one tiny screw! The expert mechanic looked at it for two seconds and claimed my tire has "metal-magnetic attraction syndrome and that once a screw enters the tread, it poisons the surrounding rubber with oxidized iron fatigue.. He actually had the nerve to try and charge me a *$325* puncture-proximity hazard fee just for a patch and said that unless I buy a brand-new *$550* tire, the internal steel belts, will start unraveling like a cheap sweater the moment I hit the highway. He even tried to convince me that my car needs a "tread-synchronization calibration" for ($180) because the new tire wouldn't **vibe** with the others! Use Am I overreacting or is this just a classic case of a dealership rebranding a 5-minute plug as a catastrophic safety failure, just to hit their quarterly bonus targets?.

Well this is anti-delightful.
Pull in for gas, fill up and I leave the tire is destroyed flat somehow when I come back to the van and of course this van doesn’t come with a spare like many newer vehicles.
At least I have premium CAA so they’re towing me and the dogs, in about 90 minutes, to the Canadian tire in Woodstock and hopefully they can sell me a new tire immediately in the morning.
This blows super tons as I just bought these brand new tires two weeks ago… such a stupid waste of money and time.
I was planning to nap in the van anyways but didn’t expect a big delay or new tire… so dumb.
At least the chihuahua is cute.

I am absolutely livid. I took my car to the shop to have this tiny nail pulled out and plugged. The guy looked me in the eye and said, 'It's in the sidewall, you need a new tire.' It is clearly on the tread!! He refused to fix it and tried to sell me a $260 replacement. I told him he's a crook and drove off. I’m just going to plug it myself in my driveway. Am I the crazy one or is he just trying to rip me off?? 🛠️⚙️🛞

My in-laws stack wood like this on top of their stove. Any thoughts/concerns? Seems to work well.
