SOLDIERS MOCKED THE OLD MAN AT THE BASE GATE đ UNTIL A GENERAL WALKED OUT AND SALUTED HIM đşđ¸
It was visiting day on base â families, civilians, and guests had come to see loved ones and attend the awards ceremony set for noon.
Just after 11:30, he arrived. Thin, hunched, dressed in a faded jacket and scuffed boots that looked older than some of the cadets. He walked slowly with a cane and carried a small, folded American flag under his arm.
The guards at the checkpoint gave each other a look.
âYou sure youâre not lost, sir?â one asked.
âNo,â the man said softly. âIâm here for the ceremony.â
A young soldier behind them chuckled. âBet heâs just looking for a free lunch.â
Others nearby laughed. âProbably thinks itâs a museum tour.â
The old man didnât flinch. He just stood quietly, his eyes fixed on the parade field.
One officer radioed for a superior. âWeâve got a civilian here. Says heâs here for the event. No ID, no family, no clearance.â
âShould we es**rt him out?â someone muttered.
Then, before anyone could move, the doors to the main building opened.
Out stepped a general, dressed in full uniform, flanked by aides. He looked across the yard, spotted the old man⌠and stopped.
Without a word, he walked straight over â then snapped to attention and saluted.
Everyone nearby froze.
