PLAY BALL! The Clergy vs. Youth Wiffle Ball Game was held on May 27 at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School. Although the youth were outnumbered by the clergy, they took the early lead. The clergy then pulled ahead for a couple of innings, but the youth rallied at the end and the game finished in a 5-5 tie.

I would like to thank Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School for allowing us access to their facilities and being very accommodating. Thank you to St. Paul’s Social Ministry — Kathleen Sheehan and Chrissy Friello — for serving the clergy dinner and the Knights of Columbus Council #201 — Ronald Severson, Jeremy Russell, Jim Ciembroniewicz and David Grogan — for helping with concessions and St. Paul’s Respect Life Ministry for donating a basket to raffle.

To Father Matthew Frisoni, thank you for your unwavering support of the youth in our parishes and beyond and to all the clergy, deacons and seminarians who came out to support this event, especially Father Stephen Yusko, Father Daniel Quinn, Father Robert Longobucco, Father James O’Rourke, Father Paul McDonald, Father Nathaniel Resila, Father Russell Bergman, Father Thomas Zelker, Father Adam Feisthamel, Father Rendell Torres, Deacon Aaron Tremblay, Deacon Gregory Mansfield, Deacon Thomas Poznanski, Seminarians Anthony Leo and Samuel Zuze, Father Tyler Mentzer, MIC, and Marian Postulants Michael Santos, Eric Gaston and John Zagajowski from The National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass.

Last but not least thanks to our umpire Mike Maksymik, and the spectators and the youth for your support and participation!
Keep an eye out for future clergy and youth events sponsored by St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

— Katie Grogan, youth minister

DEACON DISPLAY: A new niche has been created at All Saints Church in Albany to honor the parish’s two deacons, Timothy McAuliffe and Gary O’Connor. The niche, created by Janice Smirich and Clare Carroll, explains the role of the deacon, the garments they wear and what they represent. “The niche really engages the community and informs them more about our faith in our particular church,” Carroll said in an email. “Most importantly we wanted to acknowledge our deacons for their commitment to our church over these many years and to their faith and to keep it alive and present in our lives. Gary O’Connor is celebrating 20 years this month as a deacon and Timothy McAuliffe celebrated 40 years as a deacon a few years ago.” (Photo provided)
