PLAY BALL!
On June 24, St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady hosted another exciting clergy vs. youth sporting event. With obstacles like the weather, the softball game was moved indoors and a wiffle ball game was played instead. Thank you to Father James Belogi and the St. Madeleine Sophie community for lending us their air-conditioned parish center. Many thanks to Father Matthew Frisoni for his unwavering support and flexibility. Thank you to the KOC Council 201 for helping with concessions and dinner for the clergy. Another thank you to St. Paul’s Respect Life Group and Marcia Caryofilles for donating a movie night basket and an ice cream sundae basket to raffle off during the event. The money raised went toward the March for Life bus.
The game had spectators cheering for both the clergy and youth. The clergy were ahead the first two innings but the youth put in their best effort and tied it up. After the fast-paced, back and forth of the game, the clergy rallied and won! Everyone is looking forward to the next clergy-youth event. The clergy who participated included Father Daniel Quinn, Father Stephen Yusko, Father Rendell Torres, Father Paul McDonald, Father Nathaniel Resila, Brother Joseph McMahon, Brother Joseph Wloch from the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge., Mass, and Seminarian Alessio Fasullo. Ron LeClair was assistant coach for the youth and Mike Maksymik was the umpire.
