Mesa Mt. Film, in association with Stagecoach Foundation and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, held a Native Film Boot Camp these past two weeks. Five students from local Pueblos and the Dine’ Nation learned the ins and outs of producing a film, and about various aspects of the New Mexico Film Industry via guest instructors and mentors.

After the two week course, students created their own short film. Friday, May 27, the students had a private screening of their films at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, complete with popcorn and Rebel Donuts. In the end, the students received a certificate of completion and an invitation to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center’s 2022 Indigenous Cultural Arts Festival. Students will also receive a camera package, each worth $1200, made possible by an in-kind donation from the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department.

Bobbie Shelton was at the epicenter of what would become Mesa Mt. Film. She gave Darrell and Orlando the opportunity to become members of a wonderful film community, with Casting Coffee Group. We are deeply saddened today to hear of her passing. We will always cherish her encouragement, advice and laughter. Mesa Mt. Film mourns today with the NM Film community.
