Judge Sentences Woman to Nearly Two Decades in Prison for Role in Teen’s Kidnapping and Death
A judge has sentenced Mariana Gomez-Salinas to 19½ years in the New Mexico Corrections Department for her role in the kidnapping that led to the death of a 16-year-old boy.
In October, a jury found Gomez-Salinas guilty of kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence.
In May 2024 Gomez-Salinas lured 16-year-old Jesus Quintana Cota out under the pretense of going on a date. Police say she and two other teenagers then took him to Pajarito Mesa, where he was killed.
Quintana Cota’s body was later discovered by a man traveling through the remote area.
Gomez-Salinas now faces nearly two decades in prison for her involvement in the crime.
