In The Event Of A Nuclear Blast, Don't Condition Your Hair

Guam's Office of Civil Defense put out tips for surviving a nuclear blast to its citizens. One of the tips was not to condition hair after shampooing. Conditioner can bind radioactive particles to hair. For more: http://www.npr.org/2017/08/15/543647878/in-the-event-of-a-nuclear-blast-don-t-condition-your-hair

That advice came in guidelines issued to residents of Guam on how to prepare for a missile threat on the island. The reason is conditioner can trap radioactive particles in strands of hair.

Beware of counterfeit solar-eclipse glasses. To safely see the sun disappear behind the moon on Aug 21st, special glasses are needed. As many companies are flooding the market with fake or unsafe glasses, follow these NASA guidelines to select your safety glasses:
° Have ISO 12312-2 certification (this means glasses passed
tests by the Intl Organization of Standardization).
° Manufacturer’s name and address should be printed
somewhere on the glasses.
° Glasses should not be older than 3 yrs or have scratched
or wrinkled lenses.

NASA suggests these 5 trustworthy lens brands: American Paper Optics, Baader Planetarium (AstroSolar Silver/Gold film only), Rainbow Symphony, Thousand Oaks Optical and TSE 17.
