Check out the free COVID TEST KIOSKS on Alexandria! #FreeCOVIDTest

Z-TV - Zebra's Video Channel was at Ben Brenman Park for the city’s launch of free COVID-19 kiosk testing. The City of Alexandria and the Alexandria Health Department / AlexandriaVA.gov have launched free kiosk-based testing sites in partnership with the private testing company Curative.

Curative testing kiosks will be open at the following locations and times:

Leonard “Chick” Armstrong Recreation Center, 25 W. Reed Avenue
Monday through Friday, 3 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ben Brenman Park, 4800 Brenman Park Drive
Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The self administered nasal test swab is then placed inside a biohazard bag and returned to the Curative worker. Nasal swabs from the Alexandria kiosks will be delivered to a lab based in Washington, D.C., each night, and test results will be sent to patients by email or text message within 48 to 72 hours.

Consistent kiosk locations and schedules aim to increase access to free testing and is a key component of the strategy to stopping the spread of COVID-19 by identifying those who are positive so they can isolate from others during the infectious period.

Tests do not require government identification and all tests are free, regardless of insurance or immigration status. Participants will be asked for insurance information if available so that insurance providers can be billed, but no co-pay from participants will be required. Walk-up testing is available, although appointments are encouraged and may be made at Curative.com. Kiosk service is available in English and Spanish.

Happening now...

Laura Tsaggaris is a superb and critically acclaimed singer, guitarist and songwriter whose beautiful songs and robust records over the last 20 years span the genres of folk, Americana, alt-country, blues, rock and pop, and it was moving to DC over twenty years ago that laid the groundwork for her to evolve into the influential musician she is today. Laura says that often she doesn’t ‘write’ songs, she likes to think they “have a way of weaving themselves into my life.” Her stunning new single “Lead Me,” one that arose from a poem that came to her as she was driving to Florida in the dead of night with her family a few months ago, has kept her songwriting flowing and brought her muse back to the fore. At its core, “Lead Me” calls for unity in the face of this country’s civil, racial and environmental unrest, a familiar topic for so many musicians right now.
