“I ignore or forget God when everything is going well in my life.”
If I’m honest… this has been a pattern in my past, even as a Christian.
When there’s no pressure, no urgent need, no reason to cry out…
Life feels stable… and without realizing it, we start relying more on ourselves than on Him.
But then something shifts.
Challenges come. Stress builds. Things don’t go the way we expected.
And suddenly… we remember.
Not just in words; we come back.
This has been my life.
“I’ve run from my Father… I’ve run back again.”
That line is not just music.
It’s a cycle I know many of us live through.
But lately, I’ve been seeing something differently:
God doesn’t just allow those moments; He uses them.
At least in my own experience, He has used them not to push me away, but to draw me closer than I was before.
“I’ve run from my Father… I’ve run back again
Time after time after time…
One thing I have found—
I rise when I lay it down.”
That hits differently when you’ve lived it.
“Lord, have Your way in my life…
in my heart, in my soul, in my mind…”
That prayer sounds simple… until it means letting go of control.
Letting go of the version of life where we don’t need Him as much.
Letting Him interrupt what feels comfortable to bring us into something deeper.
“I lift up my hands and I fall on my knees…
Surrendering, I’ll sing it—
Lord, have Your way in me.”
If you’ve ever drifted when life was good… and only came back when things got hard, you’re not alone.
Maybe God is not just meeting you in those moments.
Maybe He’s been using them… to bring you closer all along.

Also, the piano notes aren’t perfect, and neither is the singing…
but I believe God sees the heart behind it and yours too, when it’s honest like this.
I'm beyond grateful for Katy Nichole whose songs have impacted me and my husband so positively for the past few years especially in our health journey. May the Lord continue to use your talent to bless and touch more hearts.
